Should I take notes during lectures for computer programming?

I haven't taken notes since I was in university a few years ago where I took social sciences. I've since transferred to college after I got suspended and wasn't successful in getting my suspension lifted. I don't really remember all the reasons why I got suspended, but I think it had to do with me directly disobeying the admin and staff along with protesting against the woke crap. Doesn't really matter since I wouldn't wanna put myself further in high debt.

I think they refrained from expelling me because they suspected I was neurodivergent which I later found out from a psychiatric diagnosis. Anyways, learning to code is more hands on and practical than social sciences which is very theoretical and needing to regurgitate information. From what I was told, taking notes for something like coding isn't really helpful. I never took notes for my coding courses in the past few semester but that's cause they were online.

I think that programming is somewhat similar to maths. To grasp the basics you need to practice. When it comes to specifics you need to then you need to regurgitate, as you said, the needed information.

But not word for word. Math like coding is very abstract and flexible. In social sciences, yeah there's some flexibility. However, it's mostly just rewriting the same shit I've learned repeatedly.

Depends. My roommate never took notes and got straight As. I on the other hand took some bullet points, but mostly just listened and practiced coding.

What kind of coding languages did you write for? So far I was only taught Java, Python, SQL, and JavaScript/React. I was barely taught about Python while SQL pisses me off.

I've coded some older languages like Basic, Fortran, TurboPascal. I'm studying Python now.

JS is crap! C++ is fast and used by game developers. Java is secure, but can be sluggish.

How is C++ better than Java? Isn't Java like more cross platform friendly?

I'm not a Java developer, but my experience is that it is platform independent. The subroutines reside in libraries offsite that are called on, so it makes them more secure, but potentially slower.

C++ is fast. Good for changing graphics like video games, but is probably more easily hacked if you know what you are doing.
