Then white collar workers
They simply prioritized a different sort of knowledge. In my view, everyone learns at about the same pace and in fact no one can stop learning even if they want to. So, the total amount of accumulated knowledge a person has is (barring some brain injury) tightly correlated to their age.
However, that knowledge isn't always marketable. For example if one sits around fantasizing about catching 100 yard touchdowns or something. That doesn't give you any deeper understanding of something you can then manipulate for profit. Nor is it an idea you are likely to sell as art. It is purely self indulgence, but that doesn't mean it took any less brain power to think it.
It is, however, a major point of resentment in our society that what some people enjoyed thinking turned out to be profitable while what others enjoyed thinking did not. Not that profit should be our guiding star when it comes to usefulness, but at the moment it simply is. Indeed, as we busy ourselves fighting because things are or are not profitable, those who ultimately collect those profits do nothing at all but marinate in self indulgent thoughts to drown out the knowledge that they inherited their wealth. It would be more prudent to demand they play by the rules of their own game or we all stop playing it. But that's just my opinion..

Most managers I’ve met couldn’t change a light bulb.
no. Anyone can be stupid anyone can be smart. I've met people who have absolutely no common sense or self-awareness but they are excellent coders so they get software developer jobs easily making 100k a year but their work ethic is seriously lacking. I've also met blue-collar workers who when I speak to them it's as if they are some thousand-year-old wise philosopher and they have incredible work ethic. I've also met incredible white-collar workers and stupid blue-collar workers, just depends.
An electrician is a blue collar worker. Would you let someone stupid wire your house? The whole blue v white thing is just class snobbery. How's someone whose just a data entry clerk in an office with nothing more than high school qualifications more intelligent than someone whose completed a long training course.
