What do you think are the pluses and minuses of each? Which one did you choose?
I went to a private college for my undergraduate degree and and a public university for my master of fine arts degree. The private liberal arts college was definitely a good fit for me as an undergrad. Smaller classes, a tighter knit community, way more one on one time with professors and a sense of belonging. At the public university I never started too far away from the theatre department since I only had to take theatre classes, and the theatre department had a good community, but the campus as a whole lacked the same sense of community that I had at the private college.

Unless you have greater than a B average and score at least 24 on the ACT or at least 1200 on the SAT, you shouldn't go to college because the colleges that will accept you are no more than glorified high schools. You will learn nothing you shouldn't have learned in high school.
To spend that much money to party for 4 or more years and lose income you could have earned working is flat out stupid. Instead, you should get a job and/or enroll in a trade school.
If your grades and test scores are high enough to justify attending college, it doesn't much matter if you attend a private or public college. You may get a break on tuition at a public college but overall, the cost is not that much different if other factors such as student/teacher ratio are similar. It is more important to judge the college based on their ranking in what you intend to major in and how well you feel you fit-in with the politics of the college.
Public. Private is run by a bunch of sales people who don't know much about academics
I chose online so I could work full time while taking 15 to 18 college units per semester and finish on my own timeline. It was more convenient, costed less, and I didn't have to deal with teacher's political views or prejudices when it came to grading. The term papers are graded without the scorer knowing the person (they just have a student ID number to link the score to) and the multiple choice exams were scored by computer so there was no bias. I like it because it is fair that way.
The negative about doing online college is that when you finish you really have no classmates that you went to school with, shared experiences with people, and you have to be self motivated/disciplined because nobody is prodding you to do assignments or study. It is all up to you.

I study at a public university because I don't have money to study medicine at a private university, the advantages in that the public university where I studied has more prestige than most private universities, and for me it is free, the disadvantage is that the college is ugly.
I went public for both my undergrad and grad school. It was cheaper, the education was good, the alumni network is helpful. The only reason I would advise anyone go private is if they are going ivy league and/or they have a phenomenal scholarship.
You should be concerned about the program and the ranking of that program amongst the schools that you want to apply. Otherwise, Private colleges are generally more expensive than public ones. I went to a public one because the degree I earned is offered in very few universities.
you can get an education for free. colleges are where you meet people who you'll work with later in your career.
in private schools kids tend to have more money and come from more affluent families. so by going to private schools you are exposing yourself to a more elite peer group.
Private universities tend to be more expensive, but you can find one that has professors who will not try to turn you into a Bolshevik. Public universities are quickly becoming what public K-12 are - Dumpster Fires of Wokeness.
Public is good for price, major available or opening careers and more various kind of community, while private is good for quality, specific careers and some specific aspect that major public school does not have.
Private will always be better.
Public is easier, not as impressive.I'm currently going to a public college because its less expensive
I went to private which is usually good but public is fine enough also.
Neither. I make more now than would have been possible had I finished college.
What are your goals? Will the college get you where you want?
Doesn't matter. No employer will care either way
Public..
