I enjoy reading things on the internet - mostly medical stuff. Before that, resource books.
How about you?
Overwhelmingly I am a book reader. Even now in this enlightened age of online and electronic media. Grant that I am on this site, but that is the exception and not the rule and this mostly because I enjoy interacting with some of the folks here and because it gives me a venue to write.
As far as books go, we moved to a new house a few years ago and at the time the movers estimated the weight of my book collection at just over 2 tons. It is mostly histories, works of intellectual history and philosophy, books on politics, biographies, books on economics, plus a bit lighter fare. (Currently I am reading, The Last of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and their Forgotten World War, by Richard Rubin. It has been an outstanding read in which the author interviewed the few still living survivors of World War I.)
As far as newspapers, I miss them, but even The Washington Post, my standard paper, has shrunk to but a shadow of its' former self. Of course, you can read it online - which is why print is dead - but that is not quite the same thing.
Indeed, studies have shown that online reading has a lower retention rate. The individual simply does not remember as much of what they read, and what they do read they are apt to think about less critically. It is - poof! - on the screen. Then - poof! - turned off.
The reader is less apt, because of the "instant gratification" nature of the internet, to retain and contemplate what they read. In effect, it becomes an exercise in "first impressions."
Suffice to say, the individual - and more interestingly if alarmingly - the broader societal implications of that are not insignificant. Thus today why so much of the culture is about shouting and "wokeism" and less about dialogue, debate and discussion. Online reading, in effect, reinforces the worst habits of human behavior without the countervailing benefits of thought and contemplation.
So put me down - a guy who has never seen a Facebook page or TikTok or any of the other toys of the age - as a book guy. Full stop. Reading leads, in general, to better habits of mind than the alternatives.
@nightdrot WOW! That is great!!
When you named the way and what you prefer to read, I thought to myself that yes, there is something special about reading a book. The way they each have their own smell, the feel of the pages in and on your hands (I love paper of any sort, even postage stamps fascinate me).
I agree about retaining more from a book. I know I said I have hardly read books, but there was a time many years ago that I was reading a book while driving and read at the red lights too.
Keep on keepin' on.

In books, I read some fiction, but mostly history - the history that isn't taught in schools.
On line, I read a lot of articles about things I'm interested in. I get email notifications from some outlets but I also have a few dozen bright and highly informed Facebook friends who post interesting things that I wouldn't ever run across on my own.
I don't follow ANY corporate print or broadcast outlets.

Books. Any kind of books with a preference for mysteries or historical novels.
Love to read newspapers. Miss them.
I have made an effort to read more books. I have read some works of fiction and a biography and science stuff. Newspaper are all made up lies. It is a shame but withing ten years there will be no more newspapers.
I'm on the road a lot for work, so I subscribed to audible. Now I just need to figure out how to use it😆
Books and magazines but I lost nearly all of mine 2 years ago thanks to my ex-sisters, may they rot in hell!!
I like to read about antique things as well as modern technology. I find it fascinating that so many “new ideas” are actually old ideas.
Novels, novellas, encyclopaedia articles, Quora/G@G posts, chats, emails, poetry, scientific non-fiction, Duo’s Deutsch/Spanish sentences, etc.
i read close to 200 books per year. I love Kindle Unlimited.
