Would this be a good career choice?

Ever since I was little, I never really had motivation to achieve anything in life, I had no purpose. I still don't. There was never really something I "wanted" to do, I just did whatever. Did my best in school, got good grades, got accepted to a very good university, studied business because in my country it's a safe choice with regards to earning a good wage later on and living a comfortable life. But I didn't particularly enjoy it. It's been a long time since I've ever been "excited" about anything. I am afraid that I will remain in this boring conundrum until the day I retire.

Now, one thing that always seemed interesting to me is the life of a marine/soldier. You never know what's going to happen, surrounded by people whom you'd risk your life for. A job that you can be proud of, defending your country. I have always been physically fit and work out regularly. I'm not easily frightened and don't shy away from challenges.

My country has a bunch of diverse job openings in the army. When someone has a university degree, they will be able to apply for higher level jobs within the army. Leading roles within either the marines, or even special forces. I am seriously considering to apply for such a job opening when I graduate next year. The pay will be a bit less, with not much room for growth as opposed to business, but I truly feel like I'll be excited to wake up every day, and have a sense of fulfillment for the first time in my life.

So what do you guys think. Am I exaggerating here? Would this be a stupid idea? Should I perhaps give the corporate life a try for a few years and see where it leads? I'll be 24 when I graduate and I don't want to enlist at a too old of an age.
