What to expect at a pre-employment physical?

For a job that requires heavy labor.

You will likely have to go to an occupational health center that has a set battery of things they will check. They will start with height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, basic flexibility, basic neurological, and review of medical history including medications. You may also have a few exercises they want to have you do in the Physical Therapy room (i. e. climb a ladder, pick up a given weight, push something, etc).

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER. This facility works for the employer NOT YOU!!! If you have some kind of medical issue (psychological, physical, prior surgeries, being a smoker years ago, childhood illnesses, etc) that is personal to you, you DO NOT have to disclose it and I suggest you do not! Less is better, do not offer up ANYTHING. You know what the employer wants you to do, do not give them any reason not to hire you or to deny an injury claim later.

Nothing. Just don't drink or do drugs at least 24hrs before hand.

These sorts of jobs do superficial checks as they will take anyone, but are adamant about pee tests.

A drug test and then they don't really care after that. Just don't tell them anything they don't already know.

No such luck. 😔 There was a cute man nurse with rainbow shoes, but he called my neck tiny so, that wasn't very nice.

No, he was just measuring it and remarked "huh, tiny neck!" I don't think he meant it to sound like an insult. But it's definitely not a compliment.
