Is it hard to write a logical essay without scientific data?

I thought I could write essay generated chapter books, since that is the structure of how most of my outlines work but I’ve been out of school for 5 years and not sure I’m as good at innovating book content as I was when I was a university student. One major thing is citations, have not had to cite things since 2020.

Without data, it requires you to lean more heavily on your logic and reason — your ability to articulate what your stance or point of view is and why.


The challenge is that why we have a particular stance on something could be based on hard facts rather than mere philosophy.

So, I’d say it depends on whether the thesis you have is more objective or subjective.

If it’s a more subjective thesis, then it’ll be easier to write without scientific data.

However, if your thesis is more objective in nature (can be proven or disproven with data), then it would be quite challenging to write without citing supporting data.

Some people make up the data, which makes it easy.

Without data, it is hard to write an essay, since there's nothing to base your logical statements on. The essay would most probably be considered an unfounded theory.

Not hard at all. You can be entirely logical given a set of premises. Whether the premises are correct or not is another matter entirely.
