Isn’t it sad that most people don’t have jobs they are passionate about?

I saw some poll that says 65% of Americans say they’re happy with your job, but only 20% are passionate about it. What’s the point of living if you’re not doing something you’re passionate about? So really four out of five people are not living a fulfilled life.

Not everyone has the brains to do jobs they could be passionate about. Plus management people seem to be real A-Holes a lot of the time because they are trying to get ahead and will throw anyone under the train to get there. They treat their people like shit and hold them up to rules that they themselves couldn't keep. But as they say, shit rolls downhill, so those under them send it on downstream, and it is the minimum wage earner who gets it in the ass. It is very hard to be passionate about a job when you have taskmasters instead of bosses.

No I don't think it's sad. It's work. Work is work. It does not have to define who you are it's just what you do to pay your bills.

If you're passionate about it great good for you. I think that's awesome. The reality is not everyone will be lucky to be passionate about work and that's ok. See my first paragraph.

What is sad is that most people aren't paid enough to buy a home or even afford rent without a second income. Unless of course they want to spend the majority of the pay on rent or mortgage without enough left over to set for retirement etc. Double my pay and I'll be passionate lol.

It is work, It is supposed to suck. That's why they cannot find anyone to do it for free. Everyone wants a fun job like a news commentator or a sports writer. You really need to know somebody to get those jobs. The rest of us end up selling insurance of running a computer network.

Even if it was something i was into, I wouldn't want to do it forever. When it comes to work, I dont like to do the same task for long. I’m routine but i still like a variety in terms of where i work. Lets say i was a nurse. I wouldn't want to work at the same hospital despite doing the same job. I’d switch hospitals every few years 🤷‍♀️ I just can't commit when it comes to the job. My true passion is to be a great girlfriend/fiance/wife/mother

Depends how much money they make... because having a sucky job that pays you $5 million per year isn't as sad as having a sucky job that pays minimum wage. With the first job you are building resources towards early retirement and you can get other things you want to make your life easier. No, life isn't all about money but, as I said, it makes a difference.

This is such a sad reality. I decided to be a stay at home mom, and I’m honestly so thankful for that because I cannot imagine working the rest of my life at some dead end job that makes me feel lifeless.

guess i'm in the 20%. and yes, it is sad. everyone should at least like what they do to make money and to make a living. otherwise, it's extremely easy to get depressed and wonder what they are even working for, other than to stay alive.

In an ideal life sure you'd love your job. But reality is at end of month you need a pay check to survive. That's more important then anything else. Can't feed kids on fulfillment

Yes and no. Being happy is a choice. I worked at a job that was less that ideal for over 20 years. I still found ways to motivate myself. And recently I started my dream job. Those 20 years was me paying my dues.

For me work is about making as much money as I can so that I can afford to enjoy that which I am passionate about when I am not working.
