Every year, Lake Superior State University publishes a list of banished words, words that should not be used.
Here is their web page that describes the list of 10 words and why they should be banished.
Will you stop using these banished words?

I'll be using my own choice of words. I'm not responsible for how someone else "feels" just what I say.
I won't use "compelled" speech - like pronouns - so what makes anyone think they can stop me saying "banished" terms? There are some words I don't use from personal preference - particularly those describing racial ancestry - but individuals must decide if it's truly offensive, and if it is then this is demonstrated by them not using it themselves.
I heard that on the radio the other day.
I may not have the greatest life but at least I have one that keeps me busy enough not to have the free time to sit around and come up with the crap that they did.
Why do people even think that it is relevant and why are we even talking about it?
I had a look at the list, and it turns out I never used those words and expressions anyway. Words I'd add to the list would include 'decimate' (which means "to reduce by one tenth", but no one seems to know that anymore, judging by how often it's abused), 'literally' ("You're literally Hitler!" - ugh! no), and the word 'woke' as people now (incorrectly) use it.
Some are quite cringe worthy, particularly rizz which I think will die out and not make any real impact on our language. At the end of the day if just wait for it, words come and go and there's no need to be obsessed with the side hustle of some old hack no matter how iconic his yearly lists have become.

I think side hustle should be banned and just called what it is, a second job. I love how society has gotten to a point that people have to work 2 jobs just to make ends meet but then it's called a side hustle instead to make it more palatable and "cute."
Some don't make sense at all when they're used, but it's funny to me when I hear someone try to use them effectively while thinking they're "oh so smart". My question is; where's "literally"? It's THE most misused word, year after year. It should be on their list until it stops! LOL
PS > what about "epic", or was that 2022-3 ?
A person's complexion has nothing to do with their perceived attractiveness. While of course some folks may prefer one ethnicity over another, that's entirely subjective and a matter of personal preference.
I hear many of those words at work. Usually, they're used by people to boost their influence by using catchy words with out adding substance. Interesting that LSSU is "officially" recognizing that.
I hate any word that suddenly becomes trendy. I have a whole mental list of words I refuse to use because they are so overused or used so incorrectly. Among them: Literally, red flag, cringe, hack, viral, and so on.
The one I probably couldn’t quit is “at the end of the day.” Like I’m not sure what I’d replace that with in common speech, you know? Sure as hell not gonna go around like “In summaryyyyyy…🧐🧐🧐”, lmao
no, that cats that made that lingo are a bunch of dogs. They aren't "free"... they are "fray" in their generation, so they do side hustles to pay for their video game addictions.
I don't know about words, but there should be a lot of questions banished here on G@G. Anything about dick size is the top one for me.
"Does the size matter?" "Girls, have you ever rejected someone because of their dick size" "Girls, would you make fun of a guy because of his dick size?"... the list can go all the way from Europe to far east.
@BlissfullyCurSed Then why do the questions keep coming about "Is my dick big enough?"
How about ubiquitous? That word is everywhere,
They haven't reached a consensus yet. 🤣🤣🤣
"How about ubiquitous? That word is everywhere,"
🤣🤣🤣
what is wrong with those words? Like, some I use on a daily basis at work. What is another word for hack or impact?
Why do you banish normal words ffs?
Ill use what I want to use, Hack is a very common programming term for example. Also fuck them for trying to control speech.
I don't see anything wrong with those words so no I won't stop
At the end end of day this post ain't the iconic slay you think it is. Pretty cringe-worthy.
I plan on using words like "sard" and "fopdoodle" in 2024. Old people bringin' back Old English.
How does this list not include narcissist / narcissistic? Buzzword of the year easily.
The only one I use is Iconic and it is always appropriate.
which was an iconic statement🤩🤩.
I don't get it...
First they say " let him be himself, let him Express himself, allow him to be free" then they go and say " boy why is your ass using banished words? Where my best at?"
I’ll continue using all of these except for “rizz”
I work with attorneys, so I cannot stop using the word "hack" because there are so many out there who fit the description.
at the end of the day is not one word but more an expression
Lake Superior State University please listen starting at 4:11.
Cringe is the only one above i use
At the end of the day?
I will continue using these words
Irregardless.
