Actually here in Japan, more men tend to be shy towards women than women towards men, and it's very frequently women who approach men and do things like catcalling, not men who approach women.

Part of it is also courtesy. When women catcall and approach men, it's usually not offensive to men and men often like it. Yet when men catcall and approach women, there's a chance women won't like it. So I think that's also why Japanese men tend to be more shy towards women than women towards men.

We call peacock way here in Japan. For a man to get girls like at a party or nightclub, he doesn't need to approach girls. He shows up like a peacock dressed well, looking great, maybe doing some impressive feats like arm wrestling or dancing. He spreads his feathers. Then Japanese women start to approach if his feathers are beautiful, and he selects among his favorite.

So it is not so big problem if a guy here is shy as long as he is attractive to women, because Japanese women will approach him and get very flirty if he is. He doesn't have to approach women at all to be very successful with women.

@handsomelad70 In Roppongi, arguably the most popular. And especially if you can dance even a little bit, not necessarily airflares but just have a groove. Lots of Asians tend to take dancing to some uber-technical level or they just can't dance, as with driving. So lots of black guys in Roppongi, they don't go overboard, they don't opt out, they're just cool. And Japanese women love that.
