The main problem is that being attractive/desirable as a man teacher, some of the co-workers seriously dislike him when he isn't interested in them and some of those women co-workers will try to sabotage his job. I've experienced it multiple times while working in schools. Also, some parents will complain about being too big and intimidating, which can turn the principal against the teacher due to hearing those complaints.
For my recent experience when trying to switch districts and interviewing, one principal seemed very interested in me working at that particular school and asked me to apply for a certain grade level at the end of my interview. For that first interview I had a jacket on due to rain. For the second interview for the other grade level it was sunny so I didn't have a jacket on and they could see my arms. I immediately got a turn down call from the district the next morning. Just being in good shape with big strong arms can disqualify a man teacher from working for some schools.
If that's what you need to tell yourself...
@DrPepper12 You are probably one of the common wimpy teachers that principals like. Most men I've seen working in schools are weak sissy men.
If it makes you sleep better...
Not risky, it can be an advantage...
In my all-boys high school, we had a young gorgeous biology teacher who loved to wear see-thru white blouses (you could easily see her bra) and short miniskirts. The guys paid more attention in that class than any other.
Risky? So, now we’re going to not hire people because of their attractiveness? This is just beyond silly
Don't you ever hear about the news of teacher student sex scandals
So, only attractive teachers can be inappropriate?
TY!!!
Denying them the job purely based on the way they look is discrimination, and illegal.
TY!!!

I've never heard anything so ridiculous. If anything good looking people are going to get the job no matter what the occupation! I can assure you almost every male high school teacher at some point in their career usually early in their 20s has been solicited by a student. OR THEIR MOTHER.
You're contradictory
Please mansplain it for me!!
I know this is a hypothetical question insinuating that attractive teaching candidates are being discriminated against and that the pretty teachers are all victims but the only disqualifications for this teacher is if she actually has sexual contact with another student and/or she is touched without her consent. There are already rules and procedures for what happens when a student does that so I doubt that a school is actually going a step further to discriminate hiring “pretty teachers”
Should we not allow attractive doctors, psychotherapists, social workers, clergy, etc? The people in positions of authority have a duty to protect their charges.
Excellent response!!
Yes, but as a adult authority figure, they must ignore their young, impressionable students' crushes.
And we do! It's a very tiny minority that makes news!!!
@DrPepper12 I know, but man bites dog always makes news.
no risk, i trust them. even the few wild students who would SAY comments are stopped by the age gap.
Possibly, teachers are looked as role models by their students.
They are and looks have nothing to do with it!
Yeah because I remember flirting with the attractive ones and I look back and think ew gross
Were I a principal interviewing a hot chick for a teacher position, I can’t say that wouldn’t cross my mind.
I guess it would come down how much she wants this job.
Not how qualified she was? 😳
@DrPepper12 hey I wouldn’t take the meeting were she not qualified. In every way…no what I’m sayin?
Now if she wants this job she betta get real creative fast. Cuz I got ten more interviewees outside.
Attractive women are a danger no matter what the profession.
WTAF? Danger to whom?
That’s not how schools make hiring decisions.
TY!!
