I’ve really been feeling this way since Covid times. Lots of people got laid off, a lot of people forced to comply with vaccines to keep their job, and it’s like all we do at jobs when it comes down to it is work to fulfill some kind of government agenda.
In my industry all it’s done is drive companies to the breaking point. I’m not getting paid enough, post-inflation… It’s like maybe without heavy government intervention, things would be better, but it has to have its hands in everything and it’s really making things difficult.
It’s like we can’t JUST have it good… there has to be a wrench thrown in at some point to screw things over. I think that’s one thing these last few years have really cemented into people’s brains. We aren’t the free market like we’ve been told we are. I’m sick of it… like, make things make sense. 🤷♂️
EDIT — and now, before I hit submit and it says ‘Education and Career’… of course, all the higher ups at work want you to do is go back to school, take more classes, get a better degree… and it’s like NO… all this company does is get itself into trouble by bending to the government, lie to make itself look good, and you want ME to be dumb enough to see through it and think that’s ok? Nah bro, I’m good… like maybe run your company better first and maybe I’d take your advice.
You CAN’T trust these people man!

Dude, I totally feel you. This past couple years have really opened my eyes to how much control the government and big companies actually have over everything. It's like nothing is really in our hands anymore.
It does seem pointless to work your butt off just to make some suits richer while they dictate all these crazy rules we have to follow. And yeah, the whole vaccine mandate thing was such BS. Like it should be our choice what we do with our own bodies.
And now with inflation, it's like our paychecks don't even mean anything compared to how much everything costs. No wonder people are fed up. I can understand not wanting to take on more school debt either if you don't trust where the company is heading.
It's rough when you realize all the freedoms we thought we had were really just an illusion. I don't blame you for losing faith in the system. Sometimes I think about just saying screw it and finding some more independent way to make money, you know? Like off the grid where no one can control me.
I don't have all the answers, but you're not alone in feeling this way man. Maybe there are some smaller companies we could look at that aren't so tied up with the big guys. Or ways we can work for ourselves on our own terms. No point in playing their game if they keep changing the rules to screw us over!
Yep I've reached the same conclusion after I got COVID and never went back to work, I realized that your life and source of income all relies on someone else and if you have a family to feed and take care of, theirs relies on you while you rely on someone else which only means you all rely on those other people, whenever they feel the need that cutting off the rope where you hang is the proper solution to their problem they will selfishly do so, it's best to find your own way of income and rely on yourself rather than on strangers.
Yes and some are hiring and then laying people off a few months later and some sya they’re hiring but aren’t. The job listings are fake to get tax breaks for creating jobs and give the imoression their company is growing. The ones who are hiring have unrealistic and unneccessary standards where they require degrees and experience (several years of experience at that) for entry level jobs. Audition like interviews, multiple interviews, tests and sample tasks to complete for free. They won’t list or tell you the salary either until you’re 7 interviews in and then it turns out it’s minimum wage. It’s bullshit all of it.
