Would you apply for a job there? Or go someplace else?

I honestly don't know! I'm a “Moderate Liberal” something which used to just be called a liberal, but since the far-Left has hijacked the Democrat Party, I had to leave and become an independent. The party no longer stands for the classic liberal democratic views it once stood for, That sign (I'm willing to bet) is just the owner’s attempt at being humorous, however he clearly states that he discriminates in his hiring practices based on the applicants beliefs, which is clearly wrong. If I was not so busy with school, I might just apply for a job, mention that I’m a Liberal, and when he says couldn’t you read the sign, I’d say yes but I didn’t think it was serious… Then I’d sue him for illegal hiring practices! Fighting illiberalism, with even more illiberalism, makes no sense whatsoever and is completely counterproductive! You cannot ask someone their political affiliation during a job interview, anymore than you can ask them “oh, you’re not Jewish are you?”! Now obviously I was kidding about suing the guy, but make no mistake, he could be sued!
Whenever I see something like that sign, I immediately wonder what I would do if I saw a similar sign which read: WE DO NOT HIRE CONSERVATIVES: It’s nothing to you with their political views, we just don’t hire bigoted, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, transphobic, islamophobic, misogynistic, sexist, who are istaphobic, phobeists! It would be detrimental to our business! If I did see that sign, I would be just as offended, and for the exact same reasons ! You hire someone for a job, because they were the most qualified, experienced, applicant for the job! Not because of their skin color, or minority status, and not because they believe the same things you believe, but because they were the very best person for the job! That used to be something we all agreed on! What happened? ¯\_(ッ)_/¯
I wouldn't actually sue him!
Laura 😘
@exitseven Well I’m too young to remember what they were like, but I know that I don’t like either! I hate politics, I really can’t stand it. I genuinely avoid politics, because I despise it. Because people take it all WAY too personally, as if either candidate or party care about any of us! They are in it for themselves. Every president (except Regan, for obvious reasons) has become incredibly wealthy AFTER they left the Whitehouse. It doesn't matter who wins because whoever wins, my generation is going to pay the bill!
Back in the old days the Republicans were the party of the rich. Guys like Reagan and Bob Dole were for tax cuts for the rich and trickle down economics. The democrats were the party of the working class. Labor unions were always democrat.
Now the Republicans are the party of the working class and the democrats are the party of the non working class.
@exitseven Yes, and before that the Democrats were the party that voted against ending slavery, and who started the KKK. I believe Woodrow Wilson (D) was the first president to show a movie in the White house. His choice was “The Birth of A Nation” (which was a racist movie featuring the KKK as the “good” guys). Yes, political parties change. I would imagine they change whenever it suits their unquenchable thirst for power! Thus, I absolutely HATE politics.
I sincerely appreciate your attempt to educate me on the history of the parties. When I stated that I was too young to remember what they were like, I meant in a personal sense. I am, however, aware of the history of both parties. Voting is a very personal decision, and we have secret ballots and a curtain on the voting booth for a reason. Whom we vote for is none of anybody else's business. My parents told me that back in the day, when people did not discuss who they voted for, this country was a much better place with almost no political conflict. Maybe we should strive to return to those days when nobody would even dare ask you who you're gonna vote for, because it IS such a personal decision. My parents also told me when I was younger. We don't discuss religion or politics in mixed company. That was a really good rule that we used to follow before 2015. Maybe that's another thing that would make this country a better place... if we just went back to practicing respect for one another’s privacy, and stopped asking who they are voting for, or telling them why they are/were wrong for voting for whomever they did vote for.
PLEASE don’t take my meaning wrong. I am very grateful for your kindness in trying to teach me the difference between the major parties of the past versus today. I really do appreciate you, and your assistance.
But your kindness aside, I might stop hating politics if we ever get back to a time where it is considered rude to discuss politics in polite company.
Your friend
Laura.
Two things -
1) I was never a real political guy but I have been absent from the world around me because of my responsibilities. Then I woke up to find hotels less than three miles from my house taken over by hundreds of illegal aliens all at taxpayer expense and I see political opponents dragged through the courts on made up charges being convicted in a kangaroo court where the verdict was decided before the trial even started. Our cities are war zones where people are randomly killed. I would like to just say that I hate politics and bury my head in the sand and let somebody else take acre of it but I want to leave a strong America for my kids and grandkids.
AND
2) since when is GsG polite company? 😊😊😊
@exitseven Regarding your #1). I’m sure you have very good reasons for feeling the way you do. For all you know I may agree completely with you, and be voting for the same person as you. Or I may not! My choosing not to discuss my personal and private decision for whom I am voting is nobody's business but my own. That does NOT mean I am NOT paying attention, Nor does it mean I bury my head in the sand and let somebody else take acre of it! Frankly it was very rude of you to assume that because I hate politics and despise discussing it publicly OR in polite company, and that I value my privacy regarding whom I am voting for! Again, there is a reason we have curtains on the voting booth, and vote in a secret ballot. I prefer not to give up my right to vote for whomever I want in secret.
Regarding #2) When I “talk” (meaning write, obviously) to people, on GAG, I expect the same level of courtesy and respect as I do when I am speaking to someone in person. If not, then I remind them politely that I AM a real human being, and I expect to be treated with the same courtesy and respect I give to ALL of those I write to. However, my comment in which I stated "I might stop hating politics if we ever get back to a time where it is considered rude to discuss politics in polite company.” I was actually referring to IN-PERSON conversations. I apologize if my statement was vague or unclear, I thought that would be obvious given that I eluded to “company”. Again, while I do expect to be treated with the same courtesy I give other’s, I am under no illusion that we are in one another’s company when we are writing to one another on GAG. I’m really sorry that you were unable to understand my fairly plain writing. However, due to you departing from acceptable norms, and making the choice to be rude to me. I am choosing to end this discussion with you. I truly hope you have a wonderful Sunday, and that you get to do something that YOU truly enjoy.
Sincerely, Laura 🤗
@CrazyGirl2. I did not mean to say that you have your head buried in the sand. Actually I was talking about myself. I have spent the last 30 years trying to get through college and earn enough money to pay the bills and support my family. I did not pay much attention to world affairs. I just assumed it would all take care of itself. Well, fast forward 30 years and the cou try is a mess and sometimes I feel like I let it happen. Maybe I get too wound up about it today but somehow I think I might have done more to make the country better.
@exitseven Thank you for the clarification. I appreciate you taking the time to explain that, and I apologize for saying that you were rude. I genuinely mean that. I was wrong, and I’m woman enough to admit when I misread, or misunderstood something.
Again thank you. However, I would still REALLY like to stop discussing politics. I read about it, I read both sides and see the spin (on both sides) I do my best to find the truth within the spin, and make the most educated vote I possibly can. I still truly believe that whom one votes for is, and should be, an incredibly personal and private decision. While everyone has the right to express their discontent with the body politic, and rightfully so. As well as having the absolute right to discuss whomever THEY plan on voting for, to me it’s a private thing.
I come here to escape the world I live in, where I sit with rape survivors all day in my clinical externship for my masters degree in psychology, and at night work at the county rape crisis center, taking to women and young girls who are too afraid to come forward, and if they do, sit with them and hold their hand in the hospital while they get their rape kit done. just like someone did for me when I was 13, and my blood related uncle raped me!
So, I really want to go back to answering questions that help people understand the opposite sex a little better, and to help people with their relationships, and especially to help those who were raped or sexually abused, especially by a family member, b/c i’ve been there, and I know what they are going through. So I do truly thank you. But I am so done with discussions about politics. I’m already taking verbal abuse on another question where I answered “I prefer to keep who I vote for private”.
Congratulations on (I assume) completing college.
You must be extremely proud, as you should be!
You deserve to feel proud of 30yrs of work completed!
Sincerely, Laura 🤗
Okay we will just discuss what we want to be doing in the future and the latest cool thing tht happened.
I am going to retire in 5 days. I have been in It for a long time and I have had a good career but now I just want tom teach a few Computer Science courses and have summers off.
@exitseven I know that the computer field can be quite lucrative. My father owned a software company that he sold to an American company, based in California which is why we moved to the US, from England. A year later that company was bought by a larger corporation, and we relocated to Florida. He still works for the company even though the entertainment division is based in California, he works out of Florida, and takes a company jet whenever he needs to travel. So I wish you the best. Teaching must be very rewarding.
@exitseven Sure they do… Wealth comes in more forms than just money! The wealth of joy one receives knowing that they change a life because of the education they gave, is more rewarding than just having a few extra zeros in their bank! What you do changes lives. You instill in people knowledge that will allow them to feed their families. You improve lives, and that is something that could never be measured on an accounting balance sheet! Thank you for being a teacher, even if you only touch one life in your entire career, then you've still made a positive difference in a person’s life. I’m also sure you have helped change a LOT more than just one life. Having money removes a lot of problems, but it can create way more new problems that it eliminated! A life lived in the service of others, is infinitely more rewarding than having more money than you could ever spend! You are a teacher, the lives you change are more valuable than anything financial.
Thanks again!
Laura🤗
@exitseven I’ve grown up a LOT in the last year! I ended a toxic relationship, I met someone else when I least expected it, and everything just clicked. he’s not like anyone I have ever dated before, (meaning he’s not an athlete), and he asked me to marry him on Christmas day in front of both of our families! It will be a long engagement, but things are looking up! I’ve done NOTHING but study since I was 14! Let’s face it, it’s not exactly common for a 21y/o to be almost finished with a masters degree! Also I began Ketamine therapy last week. I’ve had three sessions, and it has completely changed my life! for the first time since I was raped by my uncle, I feel… I can’t explain it? I feel light, unburdened, serene. I’m sleeping. at LEAST 6 hours a night, EVERY night. I have not had one panic attack. I don’t feel depressed, and when I see young teenage patients who were also raped by a family member, I don’t spent that entire evening curled up sobbing! I genuinely feel like a new woman! I’m being very careful to temper my hopes with a bit of reality that it may not stay like this long term! But so far… well 🤞
I’m sorry if I was a bitch to you in the past! Genuinely! A lifetime of sexual abuse culminating in finally 3 ½ months of being raped and sexually tortured by a man who looks JUST like your father, well it has a profoundly negative impact on a woman! But hopefully, that light I see at the end of the tunnel, may not be a train coming right at me for once!
Again, I’m truly sorry if my behavior was bad towards you. But i’ve always demanded respect from those I interact with online, but I don’t think i’ve been giving as much in return. I’ll try to change that. I hope you can forgive me.
Sincerely, Laura 🤗
@CrazyGirl2 Is that a picture of your Jeep on your profile pic?
@exitseven Yes it’s the interior of my Jeep. I didn't like the drab all dk. gray / black interior, especially with that bright “Firecracker Red” exterior paint job. So I added some red trim, the red “WRANGLER” decals in the grab-bar, the red “JEEP” logo on the steering wheel, the A/C vent rings, and I removed and I painted the infotainment trim-plate with MOPAR paint, matching the exterior. I also replaced the “Freedom Panels” 8 black plastic release levers with machined and anodized aircraft grade aluminum latches. Please tell me you were asking because it looks good, and not awful?
Laura 🤗
It really looks awesome. I took a Jeep Gladiator for s test drive. This was 2019 when it first came out.. It was a nice vehicle and it was fun to drive. It also had a removable top and doors. I figured it would be fun for a while but it did not have the capacity that my truck had, It was also pretty expensive and since it just came out nobody was giving discounts. I winded up with a V-8 Ford F=150.
Still you did a nice job with the interior.
@exitseven Thank you! I really appreciate that. I wish I could say I worked hard on it, but after building my first Jeep with my dad when I was 15, and actually building the LS motor, removing, and painting a few trim pieces, and some applying appliqués and decals was a breeze. 😉
I truly thank you for the sweet, kind compliment. I absolutely love my “Big-Ass Red Jeep” (BAR-J) I figured a name that pays homage to the original CJ was just so apt. My first Jeep was a custom blend of two Corvette Yellows, and was called the “Zombie apocalypse Jeep”or "ZA-J” (pronounced Zay-Jay) This new Jeep is just SO much fun to drive (especially with the roof and doors off)! I honestly don't think I could drive anything else. I’ve been driving nothing but Jeeps since I was 16! A convertible would just seem so boring after this. plus I like that they make a million aftermarket parts and accessories for them, and that I’s so high up, I can see right over cars! (and if traffic ever got TOO bad, I could drive over them too!) 😁
Cheers 🥂
@CrazyGirl2 Yes, there are a lot of aftermarket kits for jeeps. My sone had a Jeep Extreme which was only made for two years. It is a little longer than a standard Jeep, then they made the 4 door Jeep and the Extreme was discontinued. I looked into doing an engine swap and there are total engine swap kids for the LS engine and also for 302 Ford. I thought it would be cool if we fixed it up but he sold it instead.
@exitseven OMG 💯 percent! Yes, fix it up! My first Jeep was a result of family counseling we went to after my uncle raped me. The therapist suggested to my dad that we do a daddy/daughter project, and since hid hobby is restoring old European exotics, and classic American Muscle cars. (and because my brother had NO interest in cars, he just played video games) He decided to try to see if I would be interested in helping him restore something. I wasn't, but I DID wanna spend time with my dad. He was restoring an old CJ-5 or CJ-7, and there was something that made this particular Jeep very rare! OMG, I absolutely LOVED it! Not just working on cars and spending time w/ my dad, but I LOVED that Jeep! I Really wanted one, and dad did consider giving it to me, but he felt it was not safe. they rolled over to easily, and there were ZERO safety features! So he decided to get me one of my own, and do a resto-mod, where you restore the car but modify it to make it modern. For example: antilock brakes, airbag, seatbelt pretensioning etc… and a big beautiful LS swap! It took a year to build but it was more than ready for my 16th birthday! I still have it, I’m never selling it! it’s in the warehouse with my dads car collection, while I’m in school. I was terrified that it would get damaged in a college town!
So I HIGHLY recommend that you do the LS swap! With an LS you are starting w/ a bigger engine, and I don’t know if they make aluminum block Ford 302, But the LS is aluminum block. The LS has between 350ci and I think 427ci on the LS-7 7.0L! So no matter what you do to mod the engine, the same mod on an LS will give you way more power! Plus, LS swap is almost ubiquitous in any restoration these days, so there's just so much out there that you can buy to modify it to suit your needs.
Good luck with the restoration.
Best wishes, Laura 🤗 🥰
The Ford 302 is, the same engine ivhave in my truck. There are tons iof them around and there is a kit specially made to do an engine swap with a Jeep. There a many people including me that think the 6 vmcylider Jeep is under powered. The small block V8 seems to be pretty powerful for my full size pickup truck, even towing a trailer
Sounds like horrible people to work for if they are discriminating like that. That’s against the law anyway to discriminate like that. I wouldn’t work for them AND, I’d report them to proper authorities about discrimination on political views. How stupid can they be?
We would not get that here and tbh, no one really gives a toss about politics other than the extreme fringes.
To follow that through as as it’s all a spectrum, they do not hire liberals, however unless you are very much 100% as far as you can be to a liberal, you are the liberal fucker and the company.
Adams in our survey you said we should fire people for getting a Covid jab, however everyone else said Execute or torture, you are far too liberal to work here. Unless you are prepared to kill, maim or torture, you do not have a career with the company.
I am working for a place like that now. When I interviewed I mentioned that I had been vaccinated for covid. The guy told me that they didn't care about that. At that moment I decided I would like working there. After I started I notices that they keep Fox News on the TV in the lunchroom and the owner is a big Trump supporter.

Sheez. No. I come from a very liberal country. If they had that sign out there, they would go out of business. I'm also not agreeing with the afterthoughts. Liberal has nothing to do with emotions, but survival. Just like non-liberals. You can't judge people outside of business.
I mean, judge them beyond criminal backgrounds and base your sole choice off of political beliefs.
Isn't it illegal to refuse employment based on political leanings or to even ask? (It is here anyway).
They're also alienating half their potential customers and if any liberals are working there they've now got evidence should they feel discriminated against or layed off.
Yes, it is.
No. I got rid of a B2B supplier last year for a stunt similar to this, in addition to taking my business for granted. He's free to post what he wants, and I'm likewise free to take my business elsewhere.
I definitely wouldn't work for somebody that is that oblivious lol. Considering conservatives also are probably as emotional if not more. January 6th for instance. Marjorie Taylor Green who is the conservative queen and all of her antics. Lauren Boebert and her antics, Trump on Twitter, Trump on Truth social. Plenty of emotional outbursts to go around on both sides. But I don't trust anybody that thinks their side is perfect. That's a cult.
She's bat shit crazy
Hahahaha. That made me so happy.
Are they hiring?
I won't apply anywhere that asks me to state my pronouns. I'm 6' tall, 52" chest, 38" waist with a beard a metal leg and a bad temper. If you can't tell what my pronouns are, you're clearly insane - and I've had enough of working for the insane.
I would likely go elsewhere. Unless it is for a political campaign or something of the sort, I would assume that they will sacrifice hiring the best person to satisfy their bigotry. That goes for a sign that says the opposite as well.
Unsure, on one hand they are likely to agree with my views. On the other hand I do identify as a liberal even if its not the definition they are using here and I dislike this kind of discrimination. It would not be my first choice.
I would not work someplace that was that concerned with my political views. My political views are private and they are my own business and they have nothing to do with my work. Given that, my work should have nothing to do with my politics and not worry about it.
I wouldn't look at any "door job" to be honest... lol
I would find it funny, but seeing a sign like that would turn me off from wanting to work there.
Yes yes and yes I'd love to work for a place like that so much truth
Absolutely, as long as I felt I had the skills required for the position (which kind of shows that I have reasoning power).
Assuming it's mostly in jest, I would. I don't care what people's political views are lol
If it's not the sign of another party then could they not be setting themselves up for a discrimination law suit?
@OfMiceandMen That's possible, but I'm not sure political belief is a protected class in the US, like sex, religion and age are, which means that legally this might not be discrimination.
Okay, I thought pretty much anything was game it suggested you are part of a group that really has no bearing on your work ethic/ability to complete the work or your experience.
I'd so get that job. They're so correct about liberals as well.
I'm really neither liberal nor conservative. I agree with each side on certain topics but that note is ridiculous and it's obviously not a truly professional workplace when you all must have the same political view.
a workplace with no liberals? hell yeah, sign me up
I wouldn't apply anywhere that cares about politics over making money
I would apply for a job there if i could. There is only one problem i have with that sign and that is them saying they regret any inconvenience caused.
Many liberals are perfectly reasonable people. Leftists, which is most of what we have now, are pure evil.
They should have two sign up. Another one for weaponized feminists!
Take a picture and report them, the business would be shut down. lmao
Liberalism is just a political view, it's hard to understand what world the business owner lives in, the American people are seriously weird.
Doesn't bother me.
Best job posting I've ever seen. I'd apply 😂
The union busting rhetoric is getting out of hand.
Hell yeah
I would be a manager in 3 seconds
This is descrimination
You may be right, but I'm not sure political belief is a protected class in the US, like sex, religion and age are.
Lol, you can't even spell discrimination
Clickbait is trolling.
