@_Maya_ Is absolutely correct in mentioning that my husband is indeed not only an architect, but is now the senior practice owner.
We met almost twelve years ago when he came to my place of work as a junior trainee architect, to do some surveying measuring for a new extension we were having built.
Fast forward to present day, he had the most wonderful opportunity in buying into the practice when the then current owner decided to take early retirement... I should add that it helped immensely that the owner is a personal close friend of my husband's father.
I must confess that I don't become too involved in my husband's work, suffice to say that's it's small enough to remain on a nice, simple and personal level with all his clients, and has no wishes to become one of those huge conglomerate type practices.
Also @_Maya_ has reiterate a lot of what I've heard over the years from my husband's old boss and mentor about the incredibly fast way technology has virtually overtaken most things, including losing a certain amount of the personal touch.
To be quite truthful, my husband hopes very much indeed that he can continue for the next twenty years when we both plan to retire... Fingers crossed. 🤞
I have an uncle that is an architect. I am not sure how long he has been doing it but suffice to say it has been a while now. I don't know much about the field other than with the advancement of computers and other tech, the actual person behind it all has become a bit superfluous. He says that back in the day it was a lot of drafting by hand. Nowadays the client can more or less input needs or wants into the design and the computer spits out a range of floorplans. My uncle says that of the 20 or so they are presented with it is rare that there are any major changes required and certainly not for someone with a degree in architecture. He is the only person I know personally but I seem to remember another user that is married to one. @EmmaMary I hope I am not wrong here and thinking of someone else. Apologies if I am.
@EmmaMary Thanks and thanks for adding an opinion for the asker. I know so little other than when I was younger I liked to see the little models of homes in his office. I don't even know if they do that anymore. They were so neat.
I might very well be wrong, for I'm fairly sure that these days they use what I believe to be 3D Printers... I do seem to recollect in seeing some smallish type models, on the occasions when I pop into his offices.
@EmmaMary Oh yeah that makes a lot of sense in today's world. I kinda forgot those things existed. They were all the rage at one point. Certainly makes sense to 3D print.

You're absolutely spot on as always... So no apologies necessary. 💕

Technology... It's all quite frightening really, isn't it? lol
Watch the movies Housesitter and The Last Kiss to see how boring being a rank and file architect is.
