What’s a reasonable time frame of job hunting to be considered frustrating?

It’s been since March and fed up! I’m scraping by doing a local delivery service for food. It’s brutal earnings and it’s so frustrating. Is that a reasonable time to begin being frustrated? 😩

Yeah sis, I'd say being job hunting since March with no real bites yet is definitely enough time to start feeling frustrated! That's like over 6 months of grinding away, you've earned the right to let off some steam.

Job searching is soul-crushing at the best of times, I can't even imagine doing it that long with no end in sight. Props to you for still hustling deliveries in the meantime to pay bills, that can't be easy work either mentally or physically.

At this point I'd say really step up the networking - hit up all your friends, fam, colleagues past and present and have them keep an ear out too. Reach out to recruiters and staffing agencies as well if you haven't already, sometimes they can find you hidden gems.

Might also be time for a resume refresh with a professional to optimize it for keywords and stand out better. And consider whether you need any extra certs or trainings to boost your appeal in a certain field.

But don't lose hope dude - you'll find something dope eventually with that persistence. Keep the grind, but also make sure to take breaks for yourself too to recharge now and then, super important for mental health during the search. You got this girl!

Thanks! If I stop then I can’t make the bills. I can’t afford at this rate to get extra certifications etc. it’s literally rock bottom. I’ve reached out to everyone I know.
It’s just over all not fair and then the foreign workers bash in our faces saying “we work the jobs you choose not to because you’re lazy people” or “oh you want our jobs, come take them from us the “. Like wtf

Dang man, that really sucks. I can't imagine how stressed you must be dealing with bills and all while just scraping by on deliveries. No wonder you're so over it at this point. And forget about extra certs or training if you can't even keep your head above water - that dude ain't feasible when you're living paycheck to paycheck. It's complete BS that it's been this hard to find something stable after half a year. And man, don't even get me started on those comments from foreign workers - that's such an unfair low blow, like you ain't been busting your butt trying left and right. Jobs ain't as simple as "just take them" like they act. Anyone would be frustrated in your shoes. I know it doesn't help much, but just know you aren't alone in it - tons of people are dealing with the same job market garbage. Stay strong and keep doing what you can for now. Your patience has gotta pay off eventually, even if it feels hopeless. Just vent to me anytime you need to blow off some steam about it all!

At my local library there are occasionally resume review events where HR professionals come in and you can have multiple people review and help you reformat your resume, as well as suggest possible jobs to look for. I think events like that happen all over the place. Even if your library doesn't do them it's probably a good place to ask about something like that.

Take 1 hour of your time and make your CV presentable. Download templates if needed. That shit helps because they view your resume for less than a minute. Make sure it looks presentable and make sure to sort of stretch the dates of past experience too if it is needed and make sure your experience is relevant to the job you are aiming for. Also make sure to have a good reference to back you up.
