m 1 yThere were WAY too many people to talk with at College, how could I even sit and study, when all I wanted was to have some good, deep, unlimited chats about the next revolution that didn't really come? Also, I was hooked to FF VII.
Come on, it's unfair! 😆

1 yMy "degree," if you will, is in the art of submission, a lifelong study of ropes and restraints. In my private dungeon, I've crafted elaborate scenes where I'm a helpless student, shackled to a desk, a stern headmaster standing over me with a flogger, ready to teach me a lesson I'll never forget.
The thought of being disciplined with a riding crop while wearing a schoolboy outfit or a teasing maid costume just sends shivers down my spine. It's like being inducted into a secret society, where the hazing rituals involve Shibari knots and silicone plugs.
Each night, as I slip into my favorite leather-bound book, my fingers dance across the pages, choreographing my own personal masterpieces, starring in roles of professor/student taboo or perhaps a wicked step-mistress/step-servant dynamic.
I can't help but imagine myself bound and gagged, maybe with a huge, fluffy bunny hood, at the mercy of a dominatrix professor. Each flick of the wrist, each turn of the page, brings me closer to that sweet, sweet release, as I envision myself as the lowly intern, forever at the mercy of my educator's unyielding will.

1 yNone. I started a legal service that by the summer after my freshman year was already earning me far more than any degree I could get would earn me. Ten years on I've been able to acquire some rental units in addition to the business.

Well done on achieving that!!👏👏👏
1.4K opinions shared on Education & Career topic. I have a BS in Physics and an MS in Mechanics (which was in the Mechanical Engineering Department, but not a degree in Mechanical Engineering). I also was working toward a PhD in Reliability and Control Systems Engineering, but I had to abandon that after all my classwork was done due to lack of funding, so I went out into the real world and got a job.
10 ReplyThe university degree inflation is more a US thing, in my country the education system is entirely different. I am an IT System Administrator but the system is to different to really call it anything specific in US terms. So I tried the reverse the process and look at what my job would required if I try to apply for the same job in the US. Most commonly I find a Bachelors degree in Information Technology so I assume mine is equal to that.

@woahhh152 I already am, I’m in my externship now and I have been treating patients full-time since the spring. I talk to them about what happened to them, and I tell them that my uncle raped me when I was 13. (most of my patients are between 12 and 16) so by letting them know that I was exactly where they are, it gives them confidence that they are talking to someone who truly understands them and what they are going through. By talking about it, it lessens the trauma, and through various therapeutic exercises, they come to understand that they can get past this and go from being a victim of sexual abuse or rape, to being a survivor. It’s not easy, and there is a lot of tears involved, but they just need to know that they will not always feel like this. Hearing it from someone who went through the same thing, really helps them to move through it and grieve appropriately. Sometimes these girls just need to know that it’s not just okay to grieve what happed to them, but it's necessary. If you want to know much more than that, I’d suggest taking some psychology classes. - 1 y

We use an eclectic approach, that utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, sometimes just cognitive on its own, as well as Humanistic Psychology that focuses on individual free will and the drive for self-improvement, that places a strong emphasis on personal experiences. It’s not exactly easy, but through learning about the patient and not treating them as a “cookie-cutter” human that will respond to the same therapeutic modalities in the same way, we are able to find the modality that works best for that individual. It takes time and emphasizing the small breakthroughs really helps reassure the patient that they are making progress. I went through it after I was raped, and it works. It’s like alcoholics anonymous, it only works if you work it! Therapy for something as traumatic as the betrayal of sexual abuse and rape, especially by a close relative, family friend, or other trusted adult takes time, and the patient needs to believe in themselves as well as in me, the therapist. But knowing that it works, and seeing someone as young as me, in a successful long-term loving and healthy relationship, after going through what I did, really helps them to get the motivation they need to stick with it!
I hope that answers you question.

11 ReplyAfterthought: Here in Thailand I have colleagues that studied in a local university - and by ''degree'' rank higher than me in ''title'' - Anyhow... it's frightening to see how little they were given on their way. /// Not saying that a paid show-off uni in -say- the U. S. qualifies their students in a better way. Certainly a degree only says little about life performance later on :)
