Everyone my age are in management. I am 31 and working alongside people in their 20s. I had the option to be in management permanently but I turned it down because I had a terrible experience being a supervisor. It was salary based and I was in charge of 8 different locations. I had to quit due to stress and my marriage being affected. I keep being told not all companies are going to overwork me like that, but I am hesistant to accept any leadership role now. At the same time I keep imagining myself as a 70 year old man in entry level work and that kinda bothers me a little bit.

AskYour decision to prioritize your well-being over a managerial role shows maturity, not immaturity. It's important to acknowledge the impact of work on your personal life and mental health. Everyone's career path is unique, and leadership isn't the only measure of success. Reflect on what you value most in your career. Consider exploring other leadership roles with a healthy work-life balance, or even lateral moves that align with your skills and interests. Remember, success is finding fulfillment and satisfaction in your work, not merely a title or position.
