Workers I feel deserve high wages are Blue and white collar and health care workers

wages are based on supply and demand. Anyone can can pour a cup of coffee, thus supply is next to infinite and demand is relatively low. So wages will be very low as a result. The only reason they get paid as much as they already do is because state minimum wage laws force it in order for Starbucks to operate a business. If those people don't want to work for the wages offered, they should look for or create another job. If Starbucks struggles to find employees wages will rise, but until then complainers will be replaced.
100% agree with you and great response. This is why I do not feel they deserve more pay. They don't have no certifications or educational degrees at all yet expect to have constant increase in wages before teachers? They can't be serious. Anyone can pour and make coffee. Their job requires no brain cells I'm sorry to sound harsh but there are teachers that don't even make a living wage who have masters degrees
Bottom line = How many coffees can you sell in 1 hr? Divided my staff members? Total that minus costs ( rent / beans etc etc ) , no thanks , its a listed company and an unskilled role , I'm not saying its NOT difficult , but that does not collate , if you don't like it.. Dont work there.
Most of America should be on strike, given their pitiful wages most are paid.
It's important to recognize the value of all work, including service positions. Starbucks workers, like others in service industries, contribute significantly to the economy and customer experience. Wages should reflect the value and demands of a job, not just the education level required. Many jobs, regardless of educational credentials, demand skills, dedication, and resilience. Advocating for fair wages is part of ensuring a livable standard, recognizing the dignity of all work, and addressing cost of living increases. It's beneficial for society to view job value holistically, considering both economic contributions and the demands of the role.

It depends and like anything else they aren’t all the same. Yes, I agree they should be treated good like any job. But people who do the bare minimum and act entitled are the absolute WORST type of people to work around.
It's not a question of "entitlement". It's a question of making a living wage. They can go on strike and Starbucks will offer a new contract or they won't.
A worker should be paid based on how much value they create for the business. I'm not sure what that would be for a Starbucks worker per hour on average, but I doubt that it's a huge number.
They deserve a living wage instead of hoping for enough charity donations in form of tips.
With no skills? Pouring coffee and blending drinks.
Garbage workers just pick up a bag on the sidewalk and throw it into a truck, but we understand the importance of the work and that we want to keep them employed, right?
Picking up garbage is beneficial to the earth. It prevents sanitation issues such as rats, bugs, and disease and keeps the air quality clean. How does pouring coffee and blending drinks provide a benefit to earth @DryGermanGuy
A Starbucks worker vs a garbage man is no comparison
Having a large service sector selling all sorts of lifestyle and luxury products is one of the signs of a first world country. So, obviously enough well-off customers want these perks to establish such companies. You won't find them in struggling third world countries which - not coincidentally - also have no working garbage disposal infrastructure.
Pouring coffee and stirring drinks does nothing for the world
That's your opinion and not reflected by the reality in first world countries. Myself, I practically never buy in these shops, because the prices don't exactly reflect the product quality, but obviously many customers do. There is absolutely no justification - in this sector or others - to privatize all winnings and socialize all wages.
Yep you're entitled to your opinion
Many people are stupid and/or lazy and want great benefits for very little effort/work.
That's how I feel about starbucks workers. All they do is pour coffee and shake drinks and have no education or skills. So what are they really expecting as far as wages? I feel teacher wages should be raised before a sorry starbucks worker
As a teacher, I don't want to tip people anymore because they expect unearned benefits. I put in the work and effort, sacrificed, missed out on things I wanted to get a degree and license while working full time and taking between 15 to 21 units per semester to complete my program. Yet many people do none of that and expect nearly the same rewards.
In my opinion, it is all part of people growing up with the participation trophy society that many schools/teachers/administrators promoted. It made people think they deserve the same benefits/rewards regardless of their accomplishments.
I bet most Starbuck employees are college graduates. They just have degrees in useless majors.
And maybe some of them are in college, studying part-time and working part-time to earn the money they need. Don't disrespect Starbucks workers. Some day you may go for a job interview and find that the person interviewing you is the same one who waited on you in Starbucks a few years earlier.
Liberals always want more, unions are like universities, riddled with liberalism
Well I do think pay should rather be higher for labor and constantly dealing with people of ass all day. Same for teachers. Teachers moreso
14.3 $ average is already pretty good for a beginner level job.
That's how I feel so I don't understand why they expect more money when they aren't blue collar, white collar or medically skilled. All they do is shake drinks and pour coffee. That requires no brain cells
Yes. Pay them much better.
Despite them not having an education?
Does it matter? They provide something and a lot of people are happily using their service. Just alone having to deal with customers is enough reason to give them a raise.
@Astarlessnightsky yes it matters lol. There are still underpaid teachers who deal with terrible children everyday. Why pay people with no education and skills more? Anyone can pour a cup of coffee and shake a drink. Them dealing with customers is their choice. If they want higher pay they have an opportunity like everyone else to pursue a higher education. The most a these people deserve is minimum wage.
Just because someone else is underpaid, doesn't mean the Starbucks people don't deserve a raise.
Shaking drinks and pouring coffee isn't a skill. That's not higher wage worthy
They do the bare minimum
If someone works, you pay them a good salary. Its that easy.
I have a Moka Pot and coffee at home
