Here's an example of education that is possible that in my days, did not exist...
It is clear, if we really wanted to improve efficiency and effectiveness of people to maxamize their potential and health, our schooling would be much different. Can we embrace the technological options we now have available to us, or will we continue to do what we've always done, resisting change?
I see how much time is wasted with our kids schooling, their time is not effectively used.
There is still a role for "teacher", but that role could be greatly improved cost/effectiveness.
My opinion... if we were to embrace technology and change:
Teachers would become more highly trained as coaches and guides with high emotional intelligence. There would be more of them for some classes and needs, with specializations and less of them at times where students do self study.
Students need wise counselors that present opportunities, look for strengths and weaknesses and how they can utilize those skills in the quite complex world... providing emotional support, curiculum guidance so they develop their full life potential as a person.
Teachers may have to continually work on their skills or interface with industry professionals so they can best align capabilities with achievement. Career counselor, being an interface for the student.
Most of all, the teacher works with social support staff to engage with families to ensure parenting challenges and skills, nutritional needs are understood, and environmental factors are considered.
It may be teachers stay longer with a group of students and as well students have more than one guidance teacher they utilize globally.
Job of the Teacher: Produce an effective human.
Those are just a few crazy ideas...
