The best way to do a DNA test and to avoid hurt or angry feelings is to do the DNA test without letting the mother know that you are going to do it or that you've done it. It is very easy to do. All you need is a cheek swab, and you can do that on a child very easily without Mom knowing. You can mail it in to a laboratory or take it to a laboratory, as I did. They will, for about a hundred bucks, tell you whether or not you are the father or even whether you're the mother if you really want to test that. All they need is your DNA and the DNA of the child. I did this with my daughter because I didn't trust my ex-wife at all. It turned out that I was in fact the father of our child, and that was the end of any doubt that I had. To this day, my ex does not know that I did this.
