Should schools be held accountable?

I’m so tired of seeing and hearing about kids being bullied at school for months to years and the school just brushing it off to the side as harmless fun or say they’ll handle the issue but really don’t. Then days later, the bullied kid kills themselves cause they couldn’t take it anymore. Schools should hold student meetings about bullying and the effects of it and the consequences of it. I think schools should accept some accountability for it cause they don’t take bullying serious until a student either kills themselves or a student shoots up a school. Most of these cases could’ve been prevented if they actually take bullying seriously. So should schools take some of the responsibility of a bullied student committing suicide or shooting up a school? What are your thoughts on this.

I worked in a K-12 school system for a few years. Once there was a kid that was being bullied in high school. He was one of the goth kids I think. He complained to the principal numerous times but he did nothing. Finally the kid went to the police department and swore out a complaint against his tormentor for assault which it was.. The cops went to the school, arrested the kid and took him to the station. They called his parents. His parents had to get a lawyer and take time off from work to go to court. I do not know how it all ended up but i bet that kid never bothered him again.

That’s actually the best solution I’ve heard. If the school doesn’t address the bullying, go to police station and file a report. I think more students and parents should take that approach if the school doesn’t do anything

Yes, if the parents get inconvenienced then all of a sudden it is not "kids being kids"/

If I was president of America, I would put all the principaLs who refuse to protect bullied kids on death row to be executed immediately and the kids that bully them would be charged with rape and assault and banned for 30 years from working jobs that pay more than minimum wage and the parents who protect them would be put on death row.

I remember when I cried so hard from bullying that the school found out and brought me into the office to tell me "they weren't bullying you, they were talking about someone else." The students never had to come in the office and say that.

I cried all day and the school told me it wasn't about me.
