Would you rather have a job that's easy and boring or one that's challenging?

My Librarian job that I had was really easy, but very boring. There was nothing challenging about it. It was the main reason I left besides the co-worker drama where they gossiped about everyone.

But the Customer Service Advocate job I have is challenging which I really like. I feel like I'm more productive and I really like my co-workers. I've even befriended one and we go out sometimes after work.

I like easy and boring, lmao. I’m not a big “work” guy😅😂 Not in the lazy sense, but just like “I’m living my life, I don’t have eight hours a day to give to things that don’t make my heart sing.” And nothing that makes my heart sing is anything I could make a living doing. So it’ll just always be “because I have to.” But living my life in the way I want to live it is always and forever priority number one. There are concessions that will have to be made, but I’ll fight them tooth and nail.

The other thing is that I’m a man of routine. My ideal job situation involves doing the same thing every day, same order, over and over, while be low-pressure, low-stress, and just maintaining a fixed status quo. No surprises, no changes, no “do a little better each year”…. just “this is the job. It has to end up with ‘x, y, and z’ results at the end of your day, it’s totally doable, we just need someone to see to it.”

I feel like I’d be a good overnight janitor, lmao. Come in at closing, wipe down this, mop that, refill the bathroom supplies, vacuum the carpeting. Walk out as everyone is coming in. Doesn’t have to be that specific kind of work, but just a set situation that I’m maintaining. Working alone is also ideal.

Oh, forgot two things: one was that I was going to say that I’ve done the high-stress regional sales management thing, driving all over the world, 100-hour weeks at one point for no extra pay. And getting reprimanded for numbers I was praised for the year before. The numbers always had to be going up. But there’s only so much demand, plus other extenuating circumstances out of any of our control. And it’s just their brand of bullshit trying to motivate you through fear, or at least annoyance, so I don’t take it to heart. I did WAY more for that company than they ever did for me. Believe me, my conscience is clean as far as my work ethic, my day-to-day performance, and my overall results. And I’m never going back to that bullshit again, TRUST THAT.

And second was that my all-time favorite job was bouncing at a bar. Most of the time I was watching a game on TV, joking around with other bouncers, flirting with women who were customers or occasionally co-workers, and very easy stuff like collecting empty glasses and checking IDs. But once in a while you’d have to roll someone, which was usually kind of fun in its own right😂, but there’s potential for it to go badly. If I had the temperament I’d bounce forever, but it’s too high stakes with my demeanor, and I’m simply too old for that dumb shit, lmao

I very very very much prefer one that is rather interesting and/or challenging... otherwise, I will not be motivated at all, lmao... if I don't feel it then I am just not going for it

this was actually the main reason why I did drop college half-way, because it was leading me to a profession that while it could have been great financially... I just really wasn't into it, I would have felt stuck... I actually fell stuck even before I started with it

and, in general... easy things are just not that appealing for me, lol

I am not one of those. Though the real question I ask myself if most people do then why not let people who do, do and the ones that don't don't.

I have both. So I guess you could say both. Because I trade stock. And there are a lot of things that are boring and routine. But if making money trading stock was just a simple formula everyone would do it. So there are many aspects of it that is always an ever changing landscape.

So I guess my answers is I enjoy all the routine research. Because I'm very much a numbers guy. But I enjoy the unpredictability of trying to spot a hidden gem ahead of others.

Yes, after working in a 'precision machining and manufacturing' environment, I learned some skills I would never have required elsewhere. Aerospace manufacturing is very precise and difficult to master, but difficult to master, BUT also enriching me in job skills.

Not if you really work at what you're being trained on and ask for help if you don't know something or if it seems too hard to get on your own. I love the saying which is loosely based off Roosevelt "nothing easy is ever really worth doing." You will find more value and satisfaction in doing something hard that you eventually overcome vs something easy that didn't take much effort.
