I've been with my current job for 2.5 years and looking for a new job.
I thought a recruitment agency would be faster but this agency is being a bit difficult.
The agency is wanting to speak with someone from my previous job who has manager as a title. I didn't report to the manager and I only saw him twice in the 6 months I was there.
I said I could get a coworker that I worked with there but she said no.
I then said I could get my previous recruitment agency as a referee from a previous role before the other one but she said it needs to be from my previous role.
It's been hard to reach my previous role and a few people have left.
Should I just flag this agency cause it's been really hard trying to get a. reference that they'll accept.
When I got my current job, I had to go down a few jobs to get a reference cause people don't stay in the same job for life.
I think I'd rather just look on my countries job search page.
Should I just forget about that agency?

It seems the agency has a strict policy on obtaining references, which can be frustrating. It's important to weigh the agency's potential job opportunities against the challenges you're facing. If they're the only agency with roles you want, it might be worth persevering. However, if the process is proving too burdensome and alternatives exist, moving on and exploring other avenues, such as your country's job search page or another agency, could be a better option. Always consider what will serve your interests and career goals best.
