I’m struggling to find a job in my field and I don’t want to be desperate working in warehouses should I just take the customer service job instead?

If somebody offered you two things - either a baby calf or an adult goat - what animal would you pick? If you want to save time, you choose the adult goat and if you want to save money, you choose the baby cow.

Your career is the same way. I know more than one person that abandoned the things they studied in school because they had limited job experience and the opportunities available to them in their field of study were meagre due to their limited foothold in the industry, while they could work other jobs with instant benefits and high pay but there was less upward growth and it would not advance their designated degree field of study.

Somebody I am aware of chose the fast ditch method to boost their career and after being out of their chosen field of specialization for so long, I doubt they will have much opportunity to return to what they studied.

I know somebody else who spent 20 years trying to rehash variants of the skills necessary for their dream job cause they were not admitted into the school of their choice upon immediate completion of high school. Now they have the job they always wanted, but because they could not get there directly, it took 14 years longer than others that got top degrees in the field. But it does not matter, if they are healthy - they will work at least 28 more years at their dream job before they retire.

I thought I would hate my customer service job but I love it. I would definitely consider taking that over the warehouse job.

What made you think you would hate it at first and what made you love it in the end?

Well I thought I would be dealing with customers but I don't deal with customers at all. It's working behind the scenes. Doing a lot of claim processing.

What does the warehouse job pay? What about customer service? I worked in an Amazon warehouse and at least I was getting exercise instead of sitting all day. Also the benefits were great.

I'm not sure how anyone could answer that w/o knowing prior experience, level of education and any degrees you might have, what you like to do etc.
