I think that depends. However, I've never had the responsibility of teaching kids. I have taught adults and I liked that because the communication is at the same level.

That said, I wish I had a chance to teach my own kids, but I didn't have kids.

The Socratic Method is just so good but I think it can be particularly good not just for teaching kids but for broadening their mind so they don't grow up and become easily duped conservatives...

I teach computer science at a very urban college. A lot of my students are financially disadvantaged and many are military veterans. Many are adults and some not so much but I find it very rewarding.

There are different rewards to teaching each group.

Teaching an adult to read is such a gift to that person, especially when they're older and they've been functionally illiterate.

Teaching a kid to read and use phonics to continue to read on their own is a key to their lifelong development and is also incredibly rewarding.

I've been a reading tutor to kids and a reading teacher to adults. You take different approaches, but for both groups, the joy of grasping your power through knowledge is incredible to learn.

Depends what you're teaching them. Teaching an adult to make a sandwich or color between the lines or put down the seat to the potty when he's done with it isn't particularly fulfilling.
