As a kid, I had endless entertainment and excitement and cool things but I was miserable.
Now I never make time for fun activities like roller blading or swimming or dance classes, but I’m far happier. Not because life is exciting, but because the pain of my childhood years is over. I experienced pain at almost all levels as a child, whether it was biological or spiritual or mental or social or romantic, when I got rejected or anxious around guys I liked.
I think material indulgence and imaginary worlds is just as dangerous as heroine or cocaine to the mental health of our youth.
