+1 yI see pros and cons to each, but I have chosen up to now, and continue to choose to be child-free. I even wanted to get a vasectomy which I considered around age 25, then decided to wait just in case, then again around age 30 and got dissuaded by the health care system making it difficult for me with mandatory wait times. I had to sign a thing then come back months later to say I hadn't changed my mind, but I couldn't be bothered with all that. I finally got one last year and quite happy about it.
Kids: pass the legacy, give someone a great life, have them love you later in life and maybe grandkids as well, all that. But for me, the kind of dad I wanted to be, I never felt like I had enough resources (time, money) to properly care for a child. I was having a hard enough time just taking care of myself, working non-stop at some points with only 8 hour breaks for sleep for weeks at a time (16 hour shift + 8 hours sleep = 24 hours in a day).
There's the reality of kids being pretty helpless for several years they rely on you for every meal and every shit they take, and in the beginning they need to eat every couple of hours and have their diaper changed many times every day. That slows down a bit but it's a LONG time, and they still need constant supervision for years. I think a lot of people get by with neglecting their kids and leaving them to cry in a crib or otherwise crating/locking them up, but I don't feel right about doing that myself.Kid-free: Just means a huge responsibility is lifted. I can just do what I need to for myself every day, all my time and money spent how I like. I do some volunteering, like for example I tutor kids to read at the local library. If I want to spend time with kids there are heaps of them needing attention and help. People get hung up, they only want to help their own DNA succeed, and ignore all the orphans, street kids, troubled youth, &c. There are so many unwanted children out there that need attention, yet people keep wanting to "have their own", which was another reason I decided not to.

It sounds very dramatic, but cool.
I wasn't complaining. You can have any username you'd like.
Well except the ones already taken on this site I guess.

+1 yI've always been someone who's been motherly, and intend on continuing my family by warming my heart to children. I want at least 2, and to give them every bit of love I can. I want to secure that they are cared for so that I have grandchildren to visit me when I'm old. Or at least someone to hold my hand as I pass.
I would never be happy in an empty home. No amount of money could convince me to abandon the idea. I find children to be a blessing and worth caring for. The journey is going to be stressful, tiring, and absolutely hellish... But what scares me more is the idea of rotting away alone once everyone I know now has died. Who will be there to thank me for the years we spent together? Who else will hold my hand? Inherit my gifts for them?20 Reply

+1 yI could go both ways. I'm torn between dedicating my life to just my family, the one I choose to build or dedicating my life to the world ( meaning giving to the world as a higher purpose through my work). I say this because I feel fulfilled on my own and I see having children as simply a nice addition to me as a person. We'll see how or which path I will choose. You can't have both and do each as well as you can. It just doesn't work that way.
20 Reply 927 opinions shared on Dating topic. I think because of the way things are going so very bad - it's everywhere you look!
It's best to go child free, not for your own selfishness, but because you kids would probably hate you for bringing them into such an evil world.
Don't forget, they would have to struggle to make their way for the next 80-90 years! Could you do it?20 Reply3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. +1 yChild-Free. I used to want children, but after babysitting 3 cousins and 2 nephews within the last 10 years, I’ve determined I’m not cut out with 24/7 responsibility, and don’t wanna be one of those deadbeats that dumps all the childcare on the mom and sees parenting as babysitting.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI do not want a traditional relationship. I am going to start a family using surrogacy. I don't trust people, so I don't like a marriage with a woman because I don't if she is serious about having a family or likes the idea of it.
13 Reply- +1 y
Instead of surrogacy, adopt children. They need parents , If u love children then pls adopt them. They will be happy and u will be too.
Opinion Owner+1 yI want my own legacy. I think it is hard for single men to adopt, too. I am open to the idea of it, but I want my own first. After, I used surrogacy and saved up enough for private school tutoring. I am not entirely against it. I want them to be successful and have the best education. And unfortunately, you don't have the option to pick and choose without money.

Yeah 😂😂😂 they love the idea of having kids but don't want to take responsibility full day. At the end of the day only mom take responsibility of that kid, who loves crying.

- +1 y
This entire planet is suffering because of man’s obsession with kids. You produce kids as if the kid would forever remain a kid. You totally forget that the kid would soon, very, very soon be a fully grownup individual.
But for three years of that cutie,, you burdened the planet with a hundred years of the excreta of that full grown individual. For how many years do you get to kuchiku the kid? Three years. And for how many years does that kid destroy the planet? One hundred years. After three years do you pack the kid back and parcel it back to your uterus? After three years you leave the kid upon the world.
Today, non-violence)
consists less of not killing; today, the greatest act of non violence is to not reproduce. Violence lies less in killing; today, violence lies much more in giving birth. - +1 y
There are many things, beyond kids and it gives you real pleasure and satisfaction in life.

I can say , my life is already filled with higher goals , and purposes. These things give me peace, satisfaction and everything which I want.
- +1 y
That's great for you. But when you say the entire planet is suffering with "man's obsession with kids," you wouldn't be here to talk about it or have your "higher purposes" if that "obsession" didn't exist.
What higher purpose is there than the survival of the human species? - +1 y
Well, yeah entire planet is suffering and it will suffer more in future. Don't u think earth is suffering day by day? that climate change?
If there is option to go back , I will surely choose that. It's far better, instead of destroying nature.
I don't know what's good in giving birth just like animals without consciousness, it don't give u any kind of growth or development in your life. If u can't develop in your life, if u can't solve your sufferings, if u can't give your life a right direction or a higher purpose , then how can u develop a kids life, how can u understand that kids suffering? How can u give him/her the right direction in his life? How will u tell him what's right or wrong , when u didn't even applied this in your life.
Give birth to yourself first before giving birth to your child.
A child is not just a child , he/she will become adult after 2 decades.
If giving birth is good then why
there are many evil and bad people in world , they exist coz they are the result of bad parenting who give birth without consciousness.
Things which is done without consciousness are never good.
Higher purpose? What' do u even understand by higher purpose? Have u ever had higher purpose in your life which entirely changed u? before asking me this question.
In case, Increasing my Knowledge, strength , learning new things everyday, doing my fav. work everyday, working on my hobbies, developing my skills, doing those things everyday which are out of my comfort zone, challenging everything so that I can develop more and more. - +1 y

Survival of human species? Dw we are not gonna extinct 🤣but we have the potential to extinct other species , coz of our overpopulation.🤣

+1 yI’ve been a mom since I was 17, as I approach 40 I am finally getting free. I watched folks go through their twenties and thirties all waste their years with drugs and dead end jobs couch hopping with no stability and lots of relationships.
So I can’t see what child free is like and I don’t regret being a mom. It’s kept me very driven and grounded.04 Reply- +1 y
U were a teen mom , I don't think so that was the right age, leave it. Before reading this, you should understand everyone isn't like u. Everyone have different choices, and different preference. They can do whatever they want. U dont need to compare child-free couple with drugs , alcohol. Got it?😊
. Child free thing also keep people driven too and grounded too. U have time, freedom and everything.
U can work for your goals, career, and anything which u want to do in your life instead of doing rubbish things like drugs and alcohol. Who said to u that people who are child free are doing drugs. Let me tell u something, child free couples have better things to do , instead of changing stinky diapers and screaming grocery store trips. If they wanted to take a sporadic trip to the Pacific Northwest, or up to New England, they wouldn't have to worry about if they packed enough diapers [tots], or if they have enough data on their phone plan [teenagers].
Couple are also able to save money much more efficiently than if they were to have children. There is no added cost: diapers [disposable or reusable] food/formula, clothes, and a myriad of other expenses. Not only that, but the birth itself [depending on your insurance] can cost anywhere from $20 to over $10,000. - +1 y
Their marriage is much more fuller/richer because they can focus on their relationship. It sounds selfish, and it is. When you become a parent, your attention shifts from your partner to your new child. While it might bring you closer together, it can also tear people apart. That’s why you have seen people on social media (here, too) who say they regret having children.
Child free couple also aren’t raising there children in this shit storm [pardon the language] of a country. They don’t have to worry about their children growing up with cyberbullying or face-to-face bullying, child predators, drugs, or them worrying about whether they are cool enough like someone else’s kids. They won’t have the anxiety that comes with being a parent, when their kid decides to break curfew, or text and drive.
They are also not increasing the population.(earth is already overpopulated, don't u think so)
There are a lot of advantages to not having children, but let me end with this: they do not feel like the are living a life with less purpose. It is not our responsibility to populate the world - it is our responsibility to enjoy the life we have created with each other and for us that involves no children. - +1 y
a great relationship also exist without baby. make relationship better with your boyfriend/hubby.
People who choose to not be parents forego quite a bit of stress, heartache and drama that comes with parenting. Instead of giving a long drawn out answer with examples I’ll just say this. When all is said and done it comes down to having freedom. PURE, UNADULTERATED FREEDOM. THAT is why and how child-free people are happy without kids. Once you’ve had a taste of freedom and all the joy and perks that come with it you don’t want to give that up for anyone.

- +1 y
Yeah thats true. Just like animals/pets. Than you can still save a being from a terrible fate and give them a great life. I agree with that. For me I don't want children because I feel not equipped/skilled enough to raise a child and I don't want to become like my father (abusive, always negative about everything, alcolism and screaming.)
- +1 y
Plus how shit the world has become last years. Prices of everything are almost double/tripple as before, housingmarket is crashing, politics who care only about themselves, climate-problems and a govermment (in my country) who is against their own people and try to get as much money from them a posible. (studentdept, taxes on everything, gasoline has trippled and salary is almost the same as 1970 while expensives has grown a exponentially). A part of me truly feels like its a crime to put children upon this world. Just like I believe my parents have committed a humanity-crime to put me on this broken world, especially thanks to my father.

Why? Because since I was little I felt like the most important job in the world was being a mom and I love kids. I know they can be time consuming, expensive lol and cause heartache but I feel, in the end, what I contributed to the world outweighs the sacrifices (hopefully). I also feel, me, personally, would have an emptiness when I got old.
- +1 y
The world is far from being overpopulated.
- +1 y
Those very same people spreading that b. s are also encouraging migration to offset the decrease in births over the last several decades. China, of all places, is actually giving financial assentives to people for having children. The US is also running out of young workers because of a population decrease and there are several other countries facing the same problem. You’re bringing up an issue from fifty years ago and look where it got us! In the U. S alone, only roughly ten percent of the land is developed. You don’t wanna have kids? Fine but don’t accuse me of ruining the planet because I choose to. That is just a dumb argument.
- +1 y
Why don’t I adopt? Because I can have my own children!
- +1 y
Now you’re saying I googled what I said? No, the problem with losing young workers has been a problem for the last decade. If you can explain to me why the very same people that want to supposedly depopulate the earth and say it’s to save the environment, encourage migration to repopulate areas, I’ll take anything you say with a little grain of salt.

U sounds more like a immature person. Your ans sounds more stupid and funny ykw. You think I'm gonna get triggered by your ans , naah dude🤣🤣🤣it's more funny honestly.
Lemme tell u one thing , if someone isn't contributing in overpopulation by being child free forever then yeah they are mentally intelligent (not mentally ill like u , who think overpopulation is good) and child free couples are better because they are caring who actually care about themselves, their careers and others (nature, flora and fauna & , earth).
Well you very well know what's the negative effect of overpopulation. isn't? This entire planet is suffering because of man’s obsession with kids. You produce kids as if the kid would forever remain a kid. You totally forget that the kid would soon, very, very soon be a fully grownup individual.
