So this is a two part question. (1) What if anything do you miss from high school? Maybe being a jock, math class, ditching parties, cheerleading, band, detention. Question (2) what is your greatest memory of high school? Please don’t say that’s where I met my spouse.

I do not have many good memories about high school. There was this really sweet girl who sat behind me in senior English class. I sort of liked her and maybe she liked me too but I was too shy to do anything about it. mostly i kept my head down and hoped for better days.

okay- I had a friend that used to ask out ever girl that he thought looked interesting. He got turned down a lot but he also dated quite a few girls. One day he tells me that he wanted to go to this convenience store because there was a girl that worked there he wanted to ask out on a date. So we go to the store and he asks the clerk if B (not her real name) was there. She was not working that day but somehow my friend got the clerk to tell him B's phone number. So he goes to the pay phone (this was a long time ago) and he calls B on the phone. It turns out that there were two girls named B that worked in the store bd he called the wrong one. however after talking to the other B for a while he actually makes a date with her.
I was really shy around girls so I asked him about this and he just told me that the worst thing that can happen is that they say no.
His advice stuck with me and a few weeks later I was in a bar and I started talking to the bar tender. I thought she was very pretty and I wanted to ask her out. The bar was busy but she was getting off work soon so I stayed at the bar and when she got off shift I asked her if I could walk her to her car. She agreed so as we walked I told her about what my friend told me and anything else that popped into my head. She was totally confused about what I was talking about so at the end I just looked at her and said "So woudja?" She stopped and looked at me. and said "What? Go out with you?" and I just said "Yeah" So she was giving a party at her house with her roommates in a few days and she invited me to come.
In the next year or so I used this 3 other times and went 4 for 4 with it.

I only had two years of high school but it was a mostly fun experience for me. I miss having so many "friends" and I miss participating in marching band, concert band, and symphony.

1) The role models and being seen / heard as a member of society. Made me feel as though I mattered and “Big”. Middle School and years prior I wasn’t heard or seen by my peers, though it hurts not being recognized as such by higher ups. Highschool actually felt like the real world and like a real person.

2) Greatest memory? Working hard on my research paper , fearing it wasn’t good enough / I would crash and burn , though getting a 90+ grade on it. Nothing says greatness, like a job well done (not saying I was the smartest student, definitely wasn’t by a long shot though it is a memory I think back to).

I wasn’t a jock, I was a nerd and I never got detention (please insert “boo!” here lmao)

@lorenzomichael Sadly , we didn’t keep in touch during The Pandemic or after though happy I had a good positive experience. Great for you having your friends and experiences intact 👍
