Why do people snitch on people at work if they are getting paid the same as you?

Why do snitches get blamed for telling? If I did something wrong I'd hope my friends and co workers would call me out and correct me. Is that not how we get better? Maybe I don't understand the question but last time I checked you snitch because it's the right thing to do. If my co worker does something wrong and I don't correct him people could die. Imagine if work for everyone was that serious. We would have a lot less people.

It depends on what the person is doing. Say for instance the person's doing something that would put everyone in danger or put the company in danger, you better believe I'm going to day something. Cause their actions may cost me, and everyone our paychecks/livelihood.

If they are just doing something stupid and may cost them their job and not hurting anyone else, I'm not going to say anything.
