I’m one of those people whose mind matured very late. Throughout my school years, I hardly ever studied properly. I hated classes, teachers, and school itself. Sure, part of it was because of the violence and bullying I went through. But I also sabotaged my own future.
After I turned 18, I became extremely hardworking. I learned English almost like a native, learned programming languages, read scientific books, watched documentaries. I even graduated from university through distance education. But can the maturity that comes after 20 ever be the same as studying diligently since age 7? Regret never helps in the end. I’ve always felt like I’ve lived life 20 years behind — both in what I know, and in what I never had the chance to officially document or prove.
I still don’t understand how my mind was always empty and focused on nonsense throughout primary and high school. How does one not think about their future at that age? Some people mature late. Some are hardworking since childhood. Some stay lazy their whole lives. Which one are you?
To those who were hardworking as kids — I have questions. How come you were so mature back then? Did your parents or elders guide you well?
