Why does my friends keep telling me to try a college I have no interest in?

I am planning to attend ASU next year as an student. My friend said that’s awesome but she was telling me about another college that I should check into and it’s really great Christian college, it’s FREE and I don’t have to pay for classes. She keep asking if I have check it out yes and I said I haven’t gotten a chance and I’ve been so busy. Then she cut me off saying, “Well you should. You REALLY need to get into that. It’s a REALLY good college (my name). Come on? Free education? Girl you better. I swear. Why would you spend thousands of dollars on college when you can do it for free. You can still do your major in what you want to do. You should REALLY get involved (my name). Just try it. I’m helping you save money so you don’t have to pay tuition!” Her mom even encouraged me to trying and would help me get signed up. I told them thanks but I want to do ASU. My friend said, Fine do what you want…but you should still try it. Be open minded for once.”
I’m tired of people trying to tell me what to do or I should do this and do that. I will stick with ASU.

I don’t care if they keep begging me I AM STICKING WITH ASU.

Just going by what you said, you gave good reasons for going to the other school, but no reason for going to ASU, other than you want to. The people who know you best encourage you to go to the other school. Unless there is a reason for going to ASU other than you want to, I tend to agree with them.

The decision to go to college is too important to be decided on simply because you want to do.

So why? Who is paying for it? Do you have so much money that tens of thousands of dollars is irrelevant? If you have half a million dollars saved, then maybe you can justify going where you want. If the other school is actually a better school, that should be a deciding factor.

You are too old to just do what you want with something so important. Simply wanting to is fine for deciding where to eat. But doing it just because you want to is not an adult decision for something so important as college.

Maybe you just want people here to side with you. But sorry, without more information on why you should go to ASU, I can't do that.

Okay I see your point but I’m not going to a college I have no interest. People don’t get to tell me what to do. I want to go to ASU because I like the campus, the campus and the activities that they have okay? My friends tell me I’m closed minded and very stubborn. I don’t wanna hear it but I do listen. Nagging people are annoying.

If I were you I’d just set firm boundaries by not entertaining that line of questioning/conversation whatsoever. Like that whole monologue you typed out, if I were you she wouldn’t have made it through that speech because I would’ve shut it down. “Thanks girl but I’m sticking to the school I chose, so can you please stop bringing this up?”. She may not like you being blunt but with people like her you need to reaffirm your boundaries. No means no.
