Whats something you found out when you grew up thats school didn't teach you?

Almost everything I know. Only a tiny portion of what you learn in life comes from formal education. That's even true of people with advanced degrees. Even when you are young and still in school that's probably true. For example children are fluent in their native tongue before they start school.
Nothing. School taught me everything. ㅤ
https://www.youtube.com/embed/JTbb_hK_3vESome careers that I never even considered about because of lack of knowledge and I bump into them once I was already working and thought that it definitely needs to be explored in schools because kids might be interested in them
How to manage a career 😄
How to have career *options 🫠😅
Also - I mean hell, some jobs dont last or when recessions come and go 🫴 go 🤣
One big thing: how much *relationships* shape your life.
School trained me to chase grades and individual achievement. Adult life runs on trust, reputation, and quiet help from others. Jobs, opportunities, even second chances often come from people who remember how you made them feel, not your GPA.
I had to learn to:
- Nurture genuine connections, not just “network”
- Communicate clearly and kindly, especially in conflict
- Ask for help and offer it before I need anything
School hinted at this; adulthood proved it’s the real curriculum.

ROFL, where to start... OK, I'll start with the observation that all of the schools I've attended were created to and focused on teaching me the mechanics of spoken and written language, math, chemistry, basic physics, geology, along with facts about history and geography.
In a Capitalist society schools are primarily seen as factories to churn out acceptable employees for industry so they are employable and not a burden on society when they go out into the world. And that's OK.
But they do not focus on churning out whole, well developed personalities who know how to navigate interactions with millions of other equally clueless people. Nor do they teach basic life skills. Maybe the thought is that parents need to take on that task. That's not OK. A lot of parents suck at parenting.
A few of the things that most people lack coming out of high school and undergrad programs.
If you can't grasp most of the stuff on that list your life is gonna suck.
dating , like school doesn't teach you how to do this and leaves you to struggle on your own and find out the hard way , like i recall learning about sex ed when i was like in grade 9 but i didn't even know how to talk to a girl so wasn't like i was going to be having sex but was taught what to do in the extremely unlikely scenario i got into bed with someone but i didn't even know how to date so how on earth was i going to be having sex?
so weird school teaches so sex ed but not how to actually date someone so i knew how to use a condom but not how to talk to a girl and get a date with her
The vast majority of what i learned in skool is mostly useless information that only comes in handy during games of trivia.
Ironically enough, the maths i thought i would never use gets applied almost daily in my trade.
Whoa, but for folly would a child’s mind be completely vacant? Ell oh ell!
Critical/strategic thinking, factoring compound interest, drafting a resume, doing my taxes, fixing a sink, handling a firearm, interviewing effectively (both giving and receiving), retirement planning.
Pretty much anything that REALLY matters in life, K-12 was absolutely worthless for.
College was not much better.
School doesn't teach you much. Is my job to learn and think outside what is taught. they are very limited. some of the best lessons learned were in side bars with teachers, off comments.
Nothing. My school years were rough both on and off campus and I faced all my challenges head on. No further life training required. The end.
Many men are immature loose cannons that never grow up.
Working hard does not necessarily get you ahead.
Relationship advice and never any mention of masturbation even though everyone does it.
It's not okay to make mistakes. If you got 95% you fucked up 5%.
