I have an online job interview this am and it's my first in a very long time? How prepared is prepared for getting back in the game?

Question

I will tell you that I am excited because it is in my field of expertise of childcare. It is called Destination Sitters and I would be going to 5 star hotels and wedding venues etc to sit and play with children while their parents are away for 4 hour or more.

Tip or tricks are welcome. I have 2 hours before go time..

Frame your answers to refer to their requirements for the job. IF they're looking for someone with - let's just say - child CPR certification, when they ask you something be sure to mention that you have that certification.

Always ask the manager what the ideal candidate looks like to him/her... then craft your answer to highlight how your experience meets that ideal candidate.

Be sure to ask at the end if there's any hesitation on their part that would keep them from offering you the job now. Then answer to mitigate any of their concerns.

I’ve coached many people through “back-in-the-game” interviews. In two hours, focus on:

1. Know your story (2–3 minutes)
- Why childcare?
- Your experience (ages, settings, special needs, emergencies).
- What parents and kids love about you (calm, fun, reliable).

2. Match the job
- Emphasize: safety, professionalism in hotels/weddings, confidentiality, punctuality, flexibility.

3. Prepare quick examples
- A time you handled a meltdown.
- A safety issue you managed.
- A creative activity you led.

4. Have questions ready
- Training? Emergency protocols? Typical age groups?

Take 5 minutes to breathe before it starts. Enthusiasm + clear examples will carry you.

make sure you are in a comfortable well lighted place. Have a pen and notebook nearby. Prepare a couple of good questions you have about the job or the company. It will show you are interested. Speak clearly and try to maintain eye contact even though you are on a remote call.
