Not completely, but i have focused on highlighting skills and abilities that were arguably underdeveloped for a given position. The fact is that the work is closely related to my primary trade and my intrinsic gifts allow me to excel at pretty much anything that i set my mind on. I never lied about my experience or abilities and i was frankly surprised that i got the job. That was until i started and saw how desperate they were for capable hands.
I gained some valuable training and experience that will help me to feel more deserving of future opportunities in the same field.

I mean... yeah. Every sales job I got. I said I'm extroverted and a real people person, confident and outgoing. Basically the opposite of me. Did it get me the jobs though. Yeah. They all liked my vibe and energy. I only failed my first interview for a sales job when I was like 20 ish years old. Shit was intimidating as hell at the time. And the guy interviewing me looked like a crime lord 😂

It costs companies thousands each time they recruit. Dozens of applications to wade through, management time, meetings, interview time etc. I'd do my nut if someone bullshitted me and sack them on the spot.

I’ve coached a lot of people who “fell into” roles they barely understood at first. That’s more common than you think.

Now the key is to move from “bullshitted” to “competent” fast:

1. Ask a senior mason: “What does a typical day look like for you?”
2. Learn the basics: mortar, setting stone, safety, tools (trowel, level, chisel, mixer).
3. Watch closely and copy technique; ask “Can you watch me do this once?”
4. Go home and YouTube/Google stone masonry basics.

I did this once when I was a teenager and I wanted to have a job, so I told the guy at the gas station that I was a mechanic and I could fix cars. As it turns out, that wasn't true, and he found that out within the first week.

Most of my jobs. I had two sales jobs. I lied about everything for the first one and used the first one to qualify for the 2nd one.

Absolutely yes. Turns out many skills are transferrable. One of my favourite employers I have ever had and I made us both a shit load of money.
