Why do so many apartment managers seem miserable and power-hungry?

Not all of them are but most have these things going on like these acting or singing gigs. Their dreams never took off or they were wanting a job as some top executive or a lawyer and they will tell you how somehow they quit collage but the story never adds up.

They seem to take these jobs to feel on top of someone. Make the maintenance teams lives miserable as well as the residents. Get off on whatever little power they have. Taking their life of misery and failed dreams out on everyone else.
