1 moA full-time job and a permanent job describe two different aspects of employment:
- Full-time refers to how many hours you work. It’s usually around 35–40 hours per week (depending on the employer and country). A full-time job can be permanent, temporary, or on a fixed-term contract.
- Permanent refers to how long your employment lasts. A permanent job has no predetermined end date. You remain employed until you resign, retire, or your employment ends for another reason. A permanent job can be either full-time or part-time.
Here are a few examples:
- Full-time + Permanent: 40 hours per week with no end date.
- Full-time + Temporary: 40 hours per week for a 6-month contract.
- Part-time + Permanent: 20 hours per week with no end date.
- Part-time + Temporary: 20 hours per week for a seasonal role.
So, full-time is about hours worked, while permanent is about job security and duration. They are independent terms, and a job can be one, both, or neither.

Full time just means you are working full time hours usually 40 hours a week or more but it doesn’t mean the company won’t eventually let you go if they need to or you get fired for something you did wrong , A permanent job means you are guaranteed your position no matter what , you are a great asset to the company or you own the company, making it your permanent position , you are guaranteed work as long as the company stays in business

That makes sense sense
Permanent and full time aren't on the same axis of job describtion. Permanent means opposite of temporary, when your employment contract has a limit when it automatically ends. Permanent means unlimited. It doesn't mean unending! You can still get fired or end a working contract if you wish. But it doesn't end automatically.
Permanent and temporary can both be full or half time though. You can have a permanent full time job, or a permament half time job. Thats the ammount of work you do each day. How many hours you work. Here from 40h a week is full time. Half time is usually 20h but that can vary more. Part time is the better describtion as is could also mean 30h =75% of a fulll time.00 Reply

1 moA full time job refers to the hours worked per week. For example a 9 to 5 Monday to Friday job would be considered full time.
A permanent job means your not on a fixed term contract, the hours worked are irrelevant. As long as your performance is up to standard and the company needs someone in your post then you've a job until you retire. No job is 100% safe but you're not worrying if your contract is going to be renewed.00 Reply

1 moLegally there is no such thing as a permanent job. In almost all legal jurisdictions, both the employer can terminate the employee, and the employee can quit the job, with few restrictions. Nothing is permanent.
A full-time job simply means that the employee is expected to work what the employer views as full-time, and the employee expects to get paid for that work. Many employers consider that to be a 40-hour work week, but it can vary, especially if the employee works with a contract. Some full-time employees may be on salary, meaning that get paid an agreed-upon amount regardless of how much they work.
Compare this to a part-time job, where the employee works less than what the employee views as full-time, and the employee generally gets paid only for hours worked. Part-time workers also generally have fewer benefits than full-time workers.
10 Reply As far as I understand your question, I'd say there is no such thing as a permanent job. Even if you have a contract that puts no limit on the time you'll be employed and, in theory, the company will provide work until the day you retire, in all practical terms they can still terminate your contract if you make a big mistake that costs the company serious money, or if you refuse to do the tasks that belong to the work load you were hired to do.
Full time usually means 40 hours a week. These are not necessarily from Monday to Friday. Weekend or evening work should be compensated by time or days off during the week.

1 moHere. In Australia. They are completely different concepts.
A full-time job is 35 hours a week or more.
A permanent job is an ongoing arrangement normally with standard base hours, notice periods, sick leave, annual leave, public holiday pay.
Non-permanent jobs fall into two categories.
- Zero-hour contracts, referred to as casual employment, where hours are not necessarily guaranteed and sick leave, annual leave and public holiday pay is generally not paid. Casual workers generally get a 25% wage loading to compensate.
- Fixed-term employment contracts, for which leave inclusions are whatever the contractors agree.
Payments to retirement savings are generally mandatory regardless.
There are other permutations like piece-rate and labour-hire, but they are on a smaller scale.

So, to be clear, you can have a permanent part-time job or a full-time casual job. As another poster suggested, they are different axes or dimensions if you like.

Like a permanent marker it really isn’t permanent & a job isn’t either unless you plan on never retiring & you plan on haunting the place after you kick the bucket.

1 moFull-time means, 40 hours a week. Perm means no matter how many hours a week it is, that's gonna be your job, you have nothing to worry about, as far as losing it, unless YOU decide to quit or you do something terrible that others there don't like at all and want your ass gone!!

1 moA full-time job refers to the number of hours worked per week (typically 35 to 40 hours). A permanent job refers to the duration of your contract, meaning it has no predetermined end date. A role can be both—a permanent, full-time position but not always.

It could be a contract position or a temp job. A permanent job is what we called a headcount. It comes with benefits and maybe a retirement plan. It is long term.

No!
Full time describes the work hours per week (vs. doing part-time).
Permanent describes the employment type (vs. a temporary contract).
Not much except full time might mean until the job ends. Permanent means you are working long term for the foreseeable future

1 moi mean full time means 40 hour work week. but you can have a temporary work contract that ends automatically in a year or two. so permanent would be if your contract isn't temporally limited.

1 moI own my business. That is a permanent job, or more precisely one from which I cannot be fired or laid off. Unless you own the company you can be cut loose.
00 Reply In my understanding a permanent full time position is an ongoing position that won't end where a non permanent full time position is one that ends upon the finish of a specific project.
