Have you ever quit a job without notice?

I was an angry young man. When i got fed up with my employer’s BS, i would either quit without notice or do something that more or less forced them to fire me. I was in my 30s before i realized that they don’t walk everyone out on their last day. Ell oh ell!
Have you ever quit without notice? Is that the exception for you or the rule?

First off, let me say the last job i had i worked at for 23 years. So i haven't worked a lot of jobs. But i also do not view occupations the same way as i did when i was young. Giving a job a notice shows your professionalism and is a courtesy. But you in no way OWE them that. Anymore then they oh you any kind of a warning that they're eliminating your employment with them. In their world you're a resource. And in your world your paycheck should be the ONLY loyalty you have to a job. I'm not saying you can't have work friends or that you can't help the boss out by working extra hrs. or whatnot. But you need to do it with the full understanding that that river only flows in one direction. Again, your paycheck should be your ONLY motivator. Your company is a brand. But so are you! Never lose sight of the fact. You work at a job and while working there you will be tasked for that business. But the whole time you're there you are in the business of (your name). I retired early last year. And the new hires would always ask me why i stayed there that long. I told them i shouldn't have. That is a mistake i made when i was younger. But i was at where i was at at that point. And since i was near retirement i was just finishing out my time there. But i'm certain management was happy to see me go. Because while i was replaceable, i wasn't EASILY replaceable. But i would not tow the company line towards the end. I knew my value. And i didn't have any problem pointing out the value of the younger guys who were too young and timid to stand with their voice.

Yes, I worked for a company that wired buildings for computer systems. If you worked at night we were supposed to get 10% more money. The extra money was never added to my check so I used to have to complain to the owner. After it happened 3 times I told him if it happened again I was out of there. It was no accident, the owwner was a wise guy that wanted to see if he could get away with it. Sure enough the very next week I was short changed so I went into his office and quit.
