15 of My Favorite Love Songs

This is not a top 15 song list as there are many love songs that I like however they will be numbered based on a request I had from the last mytake

It's kind of hard to get really detailed in terms of commentary on each song but I will just say the first things that pop into my head. Some songs will have more commentary than others but these are all truthfully and honestly 15 of my favorite love songs and again I have many more not included in this list and including a music video I posted on another mytake that had a movie music video "Nothing's gonna stop us now" by Starship so that would be another one but I already used it. But again rest assured if it's not on here, does not mean I don't like it, it just means it did not come to mind first.

Here we go...

In no particular order

1. You're the Inspiration- Chicago (1984)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

Featured in Deadpool I found this to be one of my favorite love songs. I don't know why I'm so drawn to it! I just get lost in the harmony, the hook and the voice. and the lyrics!

"You're the meaning in my life You're the inspiration You bring feeling to my life You're the inspiration
Want to have you near me I want to have you hear me saying "No one needs you more than I need you""

2. Glory of Love - Peter Cetera (1986)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

A member of the band Chicago he takes a solo approach at a love song featured in a Karate Kid Movie. It has the same feeling that the first one did, great vocals, great hook, there is something about that 80's piano or mix board whatever it is, it is something that strikes a chord with me. and again the lyrics...

"I am a man who would fight for your honor, I'll be the hero you're dreaming of. We'll live forever, knowing together that we did it all for the glory of love."

"I am a man who would fight for your honor, I'll be the hero you're dreaming of. We'll live forever, knowing together that we did it all for the glory of love."

3. (I've Had) The Time of My Life- Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes (1987)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

From an iconic movie comes an iconic song. I just can't help but be moved by this song and just get excited for the two movies characters as a couple. It just is a great uplifting song in general. I think it is one of the greatest love ballads. It is also exciting to listen to this with a crowd, watch them mouth the words and jump and dance at the songs upbeat chorus.

Nobody or at least not many people can forget these words

" Now I've had The time of my life No I never felt Like this before Yes I swear It's the truth And I owe it all to you 'Cause I've had The time of my life And I owe it all to you"

and nobody and I repeat nobody puts baby in a corner!

4. Always- Atlantic Starr (1987)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

Another great song with hooks, a great beat and lyrics, but I really feel the romance in this one. It is so passionate! You just feel carried away by it. The voices and harmonies are powerful! It's got a lot of heart and truth to it.

This is the highlight lyric, that everyone who has heard the song before will remember it when they see it. That is part of why I love this song, I did not know the title for the longest time but I always loved hearing it on the radio

"And we both know, that our love will grow And forever it will be you and me Ooh your life is sun,
Chasing all the rain away, When you come around you bring a brighter day You're the perfect one For me and you forever we'll be And I will love you so for always"

5. Can't Fight This Feeling- REO Speedwagon (1984)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

I love the classic lyrics

"And I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for It's time to bring this ship into the shore And throw away the oars, forever 'Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crushing through your door Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore"

It is just so fun and powerful. It is relaxing and peaceful but has a great kick to it! Great guitar riffs and it is just an overall great ballad. It is a weird and strange music video though.

6. The Search is Over- Survivor (1984)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

A great classic rock ballad that I will never get tired of. I also think of Can't fight this feeling and the search is over as cousin songs both great ballads and similar hooks and vocals. If I listened to one, I would have to hear the other. They are both great. And hey, it's the guys that did Eye of the Tiger from Rocky!

"I was living for a dream, Loving for a moment Taking on the world, That was just my style
Now I look into your eyes I can see forever, The search is over You were with me all the while"

7. To Be With You- Mr. Big (1991)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

Such a great ballad! Featuring guitar and vocal harmonies. Such a strong voice and someone that I think any girl after hearing this song would want to be with. He just has such an organic and natural tone that just makes you feel the honesty in his lyrics.

"When it's through, it's through Fate will twist the both of you So come on baby, come on over
Let me be the one to show you I'm the one who wants to be with you Deep inside I hope you feel it too (feel it too) Waited on a line of greens and blues (waited on a line)Just to be the next to be with you"

Now let's go a little more classic, as if that was not classic enough.....

8. It Takes Two- Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston (1966)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

This is such great classic Motown duet! It really gets you excited and tapping with the beat. I remember hearing this in so many movies. It is fun to hear Marvin and Kim play off of each other and I always get excited when I hear it come on the radio. And it's a love song by Marvin Gaye, how can you go wrong with that?

"One can have a broken heart Living in misery Two can really ease the pain Like a perfect remedy
One can be alone in a bar, Like an island he's all alone Two can make just any place Seem just like bein' at home It takes two, baby It takes two, baby Me and you It just takes two It takes two, baby
It takes two, baby, To make a dream come true It just take two"

9. For Once in My Life- Stevie Wonder (1968)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

How could I not pick out one by Stevie! But which one? That was kind of tough but this one stood out to me for some reason. I sung all the others in my head and this one kept popping out on top for some reason. This is a great one. Lot of energy and a lot of heart. It has a fun beat. It is one of Stevie Wonder's classics. and it features his classic harmonica solo! I don't know if you can tell by now that I love Motown. If you can tell yet you will by the next song.

"For once in my life I have someone who needs me Someone I’ve needed so long For once unafraid I can go where life leads me Somehow I know I’ll be strong"

"For once I can say This is mine you can’t take it As long as I know I have love I can make it
For once in my life I have someone who needs me"

10. My Girl- The Temptations (1965)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

This is a classic for sure and a movie called by the same name that I am pretty sure was inspired by this song. It has heart and great harmonies. I noticing a trend of liking harmonies in love songs. But now you can also see that I am a fan of Motown. I just can't get enough of that Motown sound and soulful melodies.

"I've got sunshine on a cloudy day When it's cold outside I've got the month of May
Well I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)"

Now let's take a break from Motown and go into another band specially

11. Something- Beatles (1969)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

The Beatles are one of my favorite bands and I wanted to find a love song by them. I wanted to find something, so I did. Something. Many of their early love songs are peppy and fun but they really don't get slow and romantic like this on does especially on the guitar with it's smooth riffs. This is a much more mature Beatles sound and it shows.

"Something in the way she moves Attracts me like no other lover Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how Somewhere in her smile she knows That I don't need no other lover Something in her style that shows me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how"

12. Maybe I'm Amazed- Paul McCartney (wings) (1970)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

Sticking with the Beatles theme, Beatles member Paul McCartney solo career had some great stuff this included! I was really tempted to put silly love songs on this list but I heard this and It's riff is so classic and it just puts me in a trance and makes me want to sing out the lyrics as I listen to it. It's so calm and relaxing. and again it's riff is so iconic!

"Maybe I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time Maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way you pulled me out of time And hung me on a line Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you"

13. God Only Knows- The Beach Boys (1966)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

I am not sure what makes this so Iconic and makes it stick out for me. I guess it's the desperateness of the song that I connect with and again the harmonies. It does sound kind of depressing but it really states what I feel and I guess that's why I connect with it and like it so much

"I may not always love you But long as there are stars above you You never need to doubt it I'll make you so sure about it God only knows what I'd be without you If you should ever leave me Though life would still go on, believe me The world could show nothing to me So what good would livin' do me
God only knows what I'd be without you"

14. Your Song- Elton John (1970)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

This is a classic Elton John Song. It is honest and it just flows like he just wrote it which makes it even more romantic. It really has a great feel and it just leaves you in a gentle mellow haze that makes you feel good. And it features some of Elton John's best skills on his magic piano. But don't go breaking my heart was a close second for me.

"
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show

I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do My gift is my song, and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple, but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world"

Here it is folks number 15 and guess what? I saved the best for last!

15. Save the Best For Last- Vanessa Williams (1991)

15 of My Favorite Love Songs

This is not really the best lol, but it is a great one. I love it for the same reasons I enjoyed always. But it also sounds like a really good audio mix perfect for testing out a car stereo. I don't know why I think of that but I do.. Anyways, I love how Vanessa uses semi unbelievable things and ideas to describe love

"Sometimes the very thing you're looking for Is the one thing you can't see Sometimes the snow comes down in June Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon"

But it really makes me feel and think about when I finally meet the right one.

"And now we're standing face to face Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed You go and save the best for last"

So that's it for my second song list, hope you enjoyed it and maybe got reminded of songs you have not heard in a while or found songs that you could not think of or remember. Hopefully these are not ones that you have heard too many times in the office or the grocery store....
