Why you should love Korean Hip Hop

Lynx122

I've listened to English rap since I was 14 and I still love it, I also listened to german and some french rap.

I discovered Kpop in 2013 and also came across korean hip hop that way.

Korean hip hop gets a bad reputation of copying western music but in reality korean hip hop is in it's golden age now. Much like in Kpop korean hip hop is not bound to one type of style that dominates. There's a large variety of styles so there's something for everyone. I find a lot of good stuff from a lot of different artists.

Since hip hop is a newer style of music in Korea there's a lot of creativity and new things being done.

I'll present a few songs that I like:

#1 Jay Park Upside Down

One of my favorite songs from last year. The instrumental is just what I like and the performances are also very good.

If you feel the same for me, the way I feel for you
Hundreds of times a day, I think of the reasons for failure
Worries stacking on top of the endless thoughts like a millefeuille
Now eat it, though I’m afraid of your critique
Be patient, feels like everyone’s partying except for me
Instead, opportunities that believe in me are next to me
If the grass always looks greener on the other side, all your life, you’ll be finger lickin lickin
We only realize too late that we’re getting time stolen over useless things
Wrongly thinking that everyone is looking at your life
Even if you just shed that thought, the pressure will go down a lot
No need to rush, everything is up to God’s plan
I got this cut difficultly, next scene is a group hoist

Flip it upside down
Push behind negative thoughts
Always believe in yourself
Keep challenging yourself before it’s over
Yeah, we on fire

#2 pH-1 Malibu / Hate You

This song is so awesome, it has a trappy feel to it but that jazzy guitar makes it even better than it is.This guy pH-1 is a rapper that can do everything from straight rapping to melodic rapping and singing so he can make a lot of different songs which is nice.

#3 Sik-K

This guy makes the style of music that I often don't like in the west but I love almost all of his songs. I don't really know why but

#4 Additional recommendations

Here are some more songs that I recommend but I won't write about each one.
