No Good Shows to Watch? Here's my Top 5

Here's shows I have watched that are good, yet I don't hear many people talk about. I know what it's like to feel like there's not many shows out there to watch, but there are.

1. Mindhunter: Psychological Crime Thriller

Produced by David Fincher, during the 1970's two FBI agents go around investigating murders and interviewing serial killers. These crimes they investigate and interviews are based on actual ones. The show overall leaves a very creepy atmosphere and is really well done.


2. Mr Inbetween: Comedy-Crime Drama

A show that takes place in Australia. It's about a hitman who takes care of his daughter and friends while having an anti-hero complex. It takes a more realistic type of approach to the story and feels new, which is nice.


3. Generation Kill: War Drama

This takes place during the first few weeks of the war in Iraq. It brings an authentic story and is said to be accurate by marines in the chemistry between people, but also the issues. Everything about the dialogue and comedy just feels real like you're actually there.


4. Community: Comedy

A group of diverse students in community college form a study group for Spanish class. This show has a lot of subtle, yet obvious humor and A LOT of parody segments in episodes referencing popular films. Even if you're having a bad day I guarantee this show will distract you.

5. The West Wing: Political Drama

This show is about the President and his advisors. It brings up politics in a clever way and so is just the story in general. The humor isn't too much and the details in the story matter. Aaron Sorkins did a really good job and it has one of the best pilots I've ever seen.

Mindhunter was awesome. I’m on the last season of Community— I like this one for “easy” viewing when I need to wind down and turn my brain off. Need something similar when I’m done.


One of my top fives is True Detective. (I’m an overthinker, so please don’t ask what the other four are. 🤣)

Also, there’s a new show on Peacock called Poker Face. Dark comedy about a girl who reads body language/facial cues and finds herself on the run from some dangerous people. Each episode has her working some odd job and ending up in the middle of some time of crime.

Community is such an easy show to watch, and I'm currently rewatching it (2nd season). It's really easy to watch even if you're going through a lot of shit 😂

I haven't watched True Detective other than a few scenes, but I'll watch it at some point. Based on what you said about Poker Face, it sounds a bit similar to Mr Inbetween that I mentioned on here.

True Detective is also one of my favorites! But season 1 was definitely the best in my opinion.

Not likely, since David Fincher said he's too busy to do a third season, unfortunately. He's put it on indefinite hold, but it's still not canceled, so perhaps one day

I just started watching Peaky Blinders. Only 4 episodes in and I quite like it.
I know it’s old but it keep popping up on my Netflix account.

I couldn't get into mindhunter. I didn't get very far into it, but it seems heavily based on what people think the FBI is like rather than what it's actually like.

Generation Kill is actually based on a book written by the real embedded reporter from that unit. It does a very good job portraying how Marines interact with each other, but it doesn't do a very good job putting that unit's role into perspective, so ultimately it's basically a road trip series as it's presented. In fact it actually blows some smoke up the asses of real people who had major screwups. The real guy who was the platoon leader later wrote his own book too, but I forget the name of it.

Community is good at least until the last season when it seems like they didn't know how to wrap it up and just dragged it out.
