Why are metalheads so arrogant?

They think they are "superior" to everyone because they listen to metal, they think metal is "superior" to all genres and if you don't listen to metal then according to them you're a "dumb sheep who listens to Justin Bieber".

Metalheads are very critical of Electronic Dance Music and say bad things about EDM and because they listen to metal they think they are the "experts" on music and they think they have the authority to decide what is "real" music and what is not "real" music.

Lastly they like to associate music they don't like with homosexuality i. e "EDM? thats gay".

Being frank, I would say you’re making a problem sound worse than it is. Likewise, I think you’re making out metal to be bigger than it is.

I love metal, but I’m not an elitist. That being said, there are elitists in every music sub genre. Heck, metal elitists annoy me too. It’s not fun liking metalcore or progressive metal and some dude saying “wow, that’s not even REAL metal like __*death metal or black metal band*__.”

But really, with metal in particular, I’ve heard mostly instead all sorts of people go and be like “wow, devils music” or “eww that screamo stuff” or “sounds like a guy trying to burp.” It’s not like everyone likes metal. Most people don’t. Hence, it’s more so a smaller genre. Outside of metalcore, most metal bands aren’t hitting those tens of millions of spotify listeners like pop. There is a bit of a community kind of feel sometimes between metalheads though. Like a bro... but metal haha

Am I picky on genres I like? Well probably. I don’t think that’s a bad thing to only like certain genres. But I don’t automatically apply my likes onto everyone else. That is, I may not like a lot of EDM, but I’m not going to make a blanket statement of “all edm is objectively trash” or something like that.

Also, from hanging out in the entertainments and arts section on here, I’ve honestly seen more blue anon (s) posting this anti-metalhead opinion than actual metalheads being elitist. I don't know if it’s just one or two guys, but yeah, something to consider.

If you listen to the guitar, they sound actually a bit like some electro house. My former roommate actually loved EDM and metal.

When people say they like metal they are treated with praise and "omg I love that band" but if you say you like EDM you are treated with hate and hostility. No one says metal is "gay music".

I live in the U. S and rap music is the most popular and pop music whilst online it's mostly rock music and metal elitist hipsters.

It's not fair that I don't get praise for the music I like, it's not fair that you people have people who share the same interest as you when it comes to music like "yeah I love that band". To this day I have never had a conversation with someone online like "I love that dj/producer", "yeah (insert dj/producer) is my favourite", "omg I love that song".

Nobody likes EDM wherever I am, wherever I go irl or online I am always the only one who likes EDM and especially you women hate EDM. I see lots of videos on youtube of popular EDM festivals showing lots of women in the crowd but where are these women irl? Some of them claim to listen to EDM but can't even name on Dj/Producer and the only "EDM" songs they now are those pop songs like the chainsmokers - closer. 1/2

But you can name every band and every detail about said band like what brand toothpaste they use, what song they played 20 years ago on a specific date and you have all their t-shirts, posters etc.

You know people like marilyn manson, metallica etc but you don't know AVICII, KSHMR, Deadmau5, and so forth.
