What do you think of the idea of a Live action Powerpuff Girls on The CW?

The series is slated to premiere this fall on the CW as they are now filming the show in Atlanta. My only question is about the villains how are they going to work with them are they going to be like CGI or live action costume? Because I'm sure it's going to be hard to make a live action version of Mojo Jojo. It is supposed to be done in a more grittier Style like Riverdale. But to be honest I really think Dove Cameron looks more like her character than the others do.

Usually live actions don’t bother me. But I hate how they are adults and not children. Honestly teens would have been better. The powerpuff girls as full grown adults is so wired to me. Also if they make it grittier then it’s not authentic powerpuff girls. It’ll be a fan fiction at that point. It’s supposed to be girly, funny, and lighthearted. Honestly I don’t understand why they keep trying to remake all these happy go lucky cartoons into dark gritty live actions. When they have so many dark cartoons to choose from. Like The grim adventures of billy and Mandy, courage, gravity falls, dexter would also work really well. Like why do they keep taking the innocent and happy shows? 😩


Also the casting is questionable for the main characters. So i can’t even imagine what the other characters would look like. The mayor will probably be too tall. Mojo jojo will probably be CGI. The other wacky villains will probably be either CGI or made into humans. And God forbid they show Ms. Bellum’s face, that would be a sin in my eyes.

They need an actress that is a ginger for Blossom , with bangs not a middle part and Tendrils, an Ariana Ponytail would have been better styling. Buttercup is supposed to have straight and have an edgier look , the makeup on that actress is too soft and her personality is too bubbly. A side shave would have been edgier. Bubbles is the only one they got right.

None of them look their character. They all have fingers! My immersion is shattered! Jokes aside, I found this to be a very bizarre choice to make into a live-action adaptation. Would really have preferred something like Samurai Jack, if you're going to do it at all. Still, I'm curious to see what they do. From what I understand, Mojo Jojo will not be in the show. Instead, they'll be dealing with Mojo Jojo Jr. I assume for it'll be done with prosthetics, because that's cheaper than CGI.

I'm really curious to see how they handle Him and if the lgbt crowd will take issue with the character in the modern day.

@Yyyyu Yeah, Ben 10 would be great. But it would be heavy CG, I imagine. Same with Samurai Jack. Probably why neither of those were chosen. Too expensive for TV.

1. Nobody asked for it.

2. Nobody wanted it, especially now that it has been officially teased.

3. The fact it's being put out by the CW pretty much guarantees it'll be trash.

4. Adapting cartoons to live action is just a bad idea in general. With cartoons, upwards of 50% of the effort is in the art and animation style alone. When you remove that factor, you're left with a mediocre product, assuming that the original was solid in the first place.

The charm of Cartoons and Anime are the special art style which you can't achieve in an live action movie.

So the majority of the uniqueness and charm of the show is lost before the filming even starts.

I don't get why these things are actually getting produced. I mean I grew up watching the Powerpuffs like everyone else but it's part of a long forgotten childhood and I don't feel really compelled to watch a live action version. Sure some might entertain the idea but I don't see masses tuning in to the CW to watch this thing.

Its an effort betterr spent on the kind of story that can only be told thrrough a tv show.

The 90's Powerpuff cartoons were great. Truly great. I hear the recent ones are not but maybe that's unfair.
Sadly, I seriously question whether Hollywood is capable of delivering a genuinely entertaining live action film of this sort. Their track record over the last 10 years is atrocious.
I rather suspect we'll see something akin to a mediocre Charles angels which will quickly be forgotten.
But here's hoping.

It would be impossible to feel like the original characters, as they seem no older than 10yo in the cartoon. Also the only one of those girls with a particularly similar haircut is the one for Bubbles.
