I just watched the Good Place and got offended?

I just watched a few episodes of the Good Place but I got offended by how the Asian character was portrayed. Jian Yu/ Jason is portrayed as an emotionless idiot who ruins his chances with the hot character Tahani (portrayed by Jameela Jamil).
I wanted to give this shoe a chance but that portrayal really turned my mood down. Why does western media portray us Asian men in such a bad light :( ;(

It's one show, and was his character based around him being Asian, or is it just the character he plays?

I think it's just the character he plays. I don't know I only saw two episodes. He's supposed to be the love interest of Tahani but the running gag is that he's some kind of idiot and Tahani just puts up with out of kindness. I don't know why.

I personally recommend "Fresh off the Boat." It combines Asian traditions and values with a comical plot

Lol well it's pretty dreadful all the way through until the end of the end of seasons... there's some episodes where hell think of things... ways to solve issues and its surpising... just gotta watch it
