In part- but largely indirectly. You know how in most shows, when a couple is naked in bed, they have those Hollywood sheets that stop at his navel, but go all the way up to her chest, as though they're shaped like a capital L? Game of Thrones didn't do that, and it added a subtle realism that actually really appealed to me. When people are bathing, they're naked. When they're in a whorehouse, there are naked people in the background. (To be fair, there WERE scenes rather gratuitously set in bathtubs and whorehouses to take advantage of that; that settings were wanton even if the nudity wasn't).
But it was primarily a hit because it was a good adaptation- when they ran out of source material, it rapidly fell off a cliff.
The Games of Thrones plot was a simplified version of the books and in my opinion somewhat trivial. Like any HBO series, its success is based on the combination of blood and sex, if you take away the sex scenes of the first seasons it would never have been followed.

Every web series wants to boost up their first season to grow more audience for the rest series.. But they literally took it to another level🙄
No. It was 98% because of the story. Otherwise every show with nudity would be a top hit. People were getting HBO subscriptions just to watch the show and then canceling when the show went out of season. There's lots of shows on HBO with nudity but most people didn't care about those as much.

Eh appart from ones that link to the story line. Like cersei and her brother, basically creating bran a character. i don't think so. Mostly just there, to slow the plot. Which is more annoying than a good aspect. Plus if you want porn you would watch porn instead.
For me, it was the absence of plot armor. Anyone could die at any moment. Made me actually tense and care when people were in dangerous situations... until the few seasons where characters had plot armor so thick that we might as well be watching a superhero film.
Modern TV and cinema are chock full of nudity for shock and attention gathering purposes. One more naked cutie is nothing to make audiences go sky high for. The story is good and well written, at least until the last season that, in fact, was booed quite a lot, even though there were several naked scenes throughout the whole thing in the previous seasons. It was just a well written story.
Maybe, but it can also have the opposite effect. Hearing that it is relatively heavy on sex/nude scenes is one of the reasons that I never had a big enough interest to actually watch it. It is not like I am a prude, but movies/shows selling themself on sex is just a minus for me.

Everyone have their own preferences and interests. So, I think, there is nothing wrong with you.
My take was that they were full of nudity because the actresses were desperate but as they got more publicitly/clout they got the power/boldness to say, 'I'm too good to show my boobs'. At the same time the quality of the show's writing kept going downhill so it was a bad combo. ha ha
that can be reason for specific actresses. Such as those who want to get better roles instead of being an extra. In any case the contracts they sign merely say that there will be nudity without specifying. You could say that they are almost forced to do it. That's why Emilia Clarke got angry after four seasons for constantly having to show her boobs (thank you Emilia. We enjoyed the eye candy)
