Norwegian ElkhoundGerman ShepherdBelgian MalinoisAlaskan HuskyI put down four because they're all basically tied. The Elkhound is probably my overall favorite because it's a very primitive breed that has remained largely unchanged for thousands of years and have a unique personality. I wouldn't call them "difficult," but they're definitely a bit different in their prey drive and problem solving than other dogs I've messed with. They're fairly rare to find in shelters though, so you'd likely have to go through a breeder to get one. I like the temperament and appearance of a good German Shepherd, but I'd be hesitant to adopt one from anywhere other than a reputable breeder due to the numerous long term health problems they've developed. I probably wouldn't have included them at all except every one I've ever met has been a good dog, making them the most reliable companions I can think of. The Beligian is a leaner, smaller, faster, and feistier shepherd with fewer health issues. Harder to deal with in my opinion, but one of the best in the world for the outdoors and tactical training (if you're into that). They're not particularly smart though, and definitely leap before looking compared to a shepherd. This is actually a major "benefit" to why the US military uses them as MWDs since they're less prone to cowering in the face of danger to themselves. Unfortunately a lot of people grossly underestimate how much energy they have (and how destructive they can be when they can't vent it off), and end up having to give them up for adoption. Alaskan Huskies are just as "cute" and fun-loving as their bigger Siberian cousins, but if I wanted something bigger, I'd get one of the other three I listed. They're great fun for the family, but not really a watch dog like the rest are.

I'm not much into ''pure'' dog breeds; especially not the 'extreme' ones. I would not ever get a dog from a breeder.
As a general preferred type of dog, to me it would be
    Beagle
    Retriever
    Pointer ('Deutsch Drahthaar')

I get along with most dogs, but I prefer them with temperament and smartness - at a reasonable size, with a proper snout, and legs that are long enough to run (that's bad news to pugs, obviously)

My own two youngsters are a mix between Bangkeaw (a Thai breed) and kind of tall Beagle.

Top three favs have changed over the years. But here's some I do/have loved:
    Chow Chow
    Bernese Mountain Dog
    Keishound
    Malamute
    Akita
    Golden Retriever for their temperament
    Border Collie for their intelligence
I like medium and large sized dogs, not toy or lap. I'm very familiar with working dogs, especially guarding types. Toy dogs that have been purposeless other than army candy tend to be too spoiled by their owners and can have pretty bad temperaments, sort of snippy. But then that can also happen with any dog if left unchecked.
Large and medium take up a lot of room inside. And lots of dogs I like but drool hangs down from their mouths. And I like double-coated breeds, but man are they a pain when shedding. It's so much maintenance.

    Not anymore.
My only favorite dog breed is the loyal one who actually still follows me even if everyone else is around.
I made a huge mistake by even letting a selfish labrador in my family. He will be with me 24/7 but one day I was unwell and wasn't able to take care of him, he immediately shifted his loyalty and attention towards someone else and he treats me like a stranger now. I feel like to throw him away from my home. He broke my heart that selfish mutt. He will follow others in public and will pretend to not know me, BUT when others are not there, he'll bother me like crazy. He's a typical selfish species.

Two large dogs and a small dog. I've had then all as pets, or have close friends who have had them.

    Large: German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever
    Small: Bichon Frise

All of these are family friendly dogs, good natured, smart and great pets.

When I was a younger man, I preferred the Sporting breeds of English Setter, Irish Setter, and Brittany.

These days I like the small, fun terriers, and poodles.

Small and fun is my recipe for a dog.

Pitbulls, Huskies, and German Shepherds. I've grown up around lots of Pits and had a couple German Shepherds before and they're fantastic dogs. Never owned a Husky but they're beautiful dogs and I intend to get one when I get my own place.

I don't know the name of that one giant ass breed that you can ride like a horse. That'd be pretty cool to have akumaru. Lol

Ummm, Chihuahuas cause they are feisty and scare people.

    And 🤔🤔🤔 Shiba inu

I like to just get a mixed up dog.
I loved watching my own dog grow, she was a little surprise egg because of all the mixed breeds. All the pups from her litter look totally different.
