Is Castle worth watching? What show is it similar to?

I have a bad habit of recording new marathons before finishing another. The Office was decent season 2-4 but 5+ kinda bored me and i’ve been stuck on finishing season 9. Now that that marathon is over and my DVR is on 1% with unfinished episodes of Chicago Fire, Living Single and Office, TV is now starting a castle marathon. I’ve recorded the first season but didn't find episode 1 to be all that. I’m tempted to finish season 1 but i have a lot of daily shows and may not keep enough DVR room. I watch Next Level Chef, Celebrity Big Brother, The Oval, Power: Force, Teen Mom, The Bachelor, Love & Hip Hip, Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Law and Order Organized Crime, The Office, Living Single, Grownish, and many more when they air between 7p-10p daily. #FeelFreeToList #CastleTheTvShow

Man I really wanted to watch season 1 at least but castle recorded like 20 eps and ate up my dvr percent so i deleted them all after only getting through episode 2 of the first season. Ahh maybe another time. I just have too much crap atm. My dvr has 35 eps of Chicago Fire that i recorded like 1-2 years ago and haven't gotten through yet 😭 its just too many fckin seasons but at least im on season 8 of 10 now

Castle is a a unique combination of humor, love, turns and twists, super sleuth and police shows. It ran 8 seasons on ABC and I watched it all the way through. As in all things, it may appeal to you, or you find it lacking, but I loved the relationships that were formed in the episodes. Because you see the characters mature as the seasons progress, you understand their little ironic putdowns under their breath and things like that.

Richard "Rick" Castle is a millionaire playboy who recently killed off his main character when a serial killer starts killing people like he does in his books. The whole thing is preposterous to the extent that Castle knows what the killer is about to do because he wrote it all in his books! Yet, the police and he begrudging work together to never get to the bottom of it!

Yea i finished ep 1 and rn eps 2-6 are recording until i run out of dvr %. I’m not crazy about it but im willing to try at least the forst season ig. Nathan was funny in Slither and i love Tamala in everything she's in so i may try

I wasn't interested in it first 2 seasons, but it really started to pick up later. It finished out very well. I sort of miss it because there is nothing like it on now.

Dang that sounds tough. The Office was good seasons 2-4 and theni got bored although im trying to force myself to finish the last season. I dont want Castle to turnout like that

I agree with you about The Office, but Castle not all comedy. It progresses into a close relationship that may or may not happen and it keeps you guessing for many episodes. It's a whole bunch of things, but another thing... I don't think it's a program that you appreciate if you binge it. It's from the old days when you watched it once a week, didn't get too much of it. It was a great show to watch in bed late at night (when I saw it, that is. I don't know what time it originally aired.)

I think the binging is where i struggle. I've been trying to binge Chicago Fire for about 2 years and its just not working lol. Its much better to watch once a week but i do usually get through 2-6 episodes a day if the story is good

There really is a deliberate story line for what is bingeable and not. Hulu or Netflix knows you want to watch 15 hours worth in one weekend, but ABC or pre-2010... not as easy to find one. Although, Seinfeld episodes are something else altogether!

castle is simular to "the mentalist" mixed with "murder she wrote" and a little like "monk"

the premise is a crime novel writter becomes a special consultant to a detective squad (murder) where he uses his expertise to help solve murders. oh and as a writter he is already wuite wealthy. there are also scenes from his home where his elderly but spunky mom and his angsty teen (college in later seasons) lives. oddly he has darker hair but both his mom and daughter are gingers.

I love Monk. I was forced to watch Murder she wrote with the grandparents 🤣 Someone else mentioned the Mentalist. I've heard of it but whos in it. And yea i was surprised to aee they were redheads

its another actor in the same vein as hugh laurey (house) . can't recall his name. dude plays as American but the actor is actually British. that show is a tv mentalist (cross between a "psychic" and an illusionist/stage magician) with a touch of sherlock holmes eye for details who joins california's state version of fbi (cbi i think) as a special consultant due to the murder of his wife. he also shares a simulatity to Dr. House in playing pranks on his coworkers.

I actually wasn't a fan of House. He reminds me of robert downey. Not a fan. I liked Hugh better in Stuart little lol

i did say it was a spoiler, did not say it was small. thing is it is kinda trope in such shows though. many crime dramas/dramas have 2 leads become romanticlly involved, usually anywhete from 3 to 7 seasons in. walker texas ranger, ncis (three times that i recall) , csi, csi miami, ncis new orleans, ncis los angles, blue bloods, law and order svu, buffy the vampire slayer, angel, seals, macgyver (newer version at least) , magnum pi, family matters, saved by the bell, and many others.

Castle stars Nathan Fillion and Nathan Fillion is amazing and funny as an actor.

I personally enjoyed it. It basically boils down to a writer who writes noir type detective decides he wants to help solve crimes to inspire his writing and he follows the adventures of a female cop who he bases his new series on.

It gets a lot more deep later I'd recommend giving it a few episodes. TV shows can very rarely be adequately judged on the 1st episode.

I only know him for being the clumsy funny guy in Slither. He seems goofy in Castle and i like that but the other cast hasn't brought anything to the table yet. And yea i feel forced to finish the first season at least. I've been wanting to start Dexter as well but haven't. I’ve had its first season on dvd for years and never opened it lol

Well like I said watch at least a few episodes you can't really base a show on just episode 1.

Its okay about a writer who writes mystery novels then joins with some cops and rides with try figure out a homicide case. Almost kinda like murder she wrote which was a old tv show. I feel castle is a lot better more modern and better actor. I use to watch it with my grandmother.

It was a pretty good show. It was funny in places and Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic were good together even though they hated each other in real life.

Aww man now that i know they hated eachother in real life, i’ll struggle to watch. After finding out Gwyneth paltrow couldnt stand Robert downey, it became very obvious in the other iron man films

Yes and she ended up disliking him by the 2nd or 3rd movie which is why she wasn't in the spinoff Avengers as much. I disliked the guy since US Marshalls. He hasn't changed. He may drink less but he still seems rude af

No, it's not a Monk, per se. See my description, but the only thing that is like Monk is that they are doing police work and there is humor. Castle does it really well with the interaction between the male and female leads, as well as the rest of the cast (including Castle's his daughter.)

this 10 min was better than the first 45 mins of the actual Uncharted movie i saw last night 😭 I laughed more than twice on this (unfortunately only twice last night). Nathan Fillion actually is funny and they got the blind man from Dont Breathe to Play Sully. Brooo im cryin. Fillion did more than mark wahlberg the whole movie. He shouldve played Sully at least (if not Drake)

@goaded but Castle reruns still play daily on tv and this is 2022. Like that show never quits. They play season 1-9 and then repeat judt like Greys Anatomy and other shows. I've seen the Get Smart movie but not the show. I wqs watching the Gilligan Island reruns last night lol
