A masked killer in the house what would you do?

a killer breaks into your home on a dark and stormy night. no neighbors for miles, cell phone doesn't work, power out and you do not have a gun what do you do? Those are your choices, be prepared-

Really depends.

My first step would be to grab a weapon ( probably a knife) and try to sneak peeks at the killer.

I obviously cannot fight someone twice my size especially if their weapon is anything but a knife.

Then I'd release my dog on him and while he is distracted I would stab him. Not enough to kill him because that would mean jail time for me, just enough to cause serious damage. While he is done I'll grab the weapon lock the doors windows and drawers that have knifes in them and go find a cellphone to call the police.

No gun huh? well I still got lots of other things, mace, stun gun... plus taken two self defense course.

Now if Police or help was minutes away, I might hide and wait for them but I live rural and that is more like hours away, so my only real choice is to fight.

For me it would depend, if we're talking the classic slasher in terms of build, fight would be a last resort, while I'm a big guy, that also means a big target, so only if backed into a corner. Size also means for me, hiding is less of an option, reasoning seems unlikely, going upstairs traps me upstairs, so trying to get outside and finding help seems best, with fight only if cornered.

I always carry a knife on me, and usually a high powered flashlight, I’m a trained fighter and I have several very protective dogs so I’d hunt him down.

so long as I can see him I can fight him and with my dogs I’ve got a better chance. Because they’d sense him before I did.

Lol, a lot of naive people wanting to fight someone who's main purpose is to kill you. Nah, that won't end well. Most people aren't capable of fighting someone, let alone put someone down, which is what you'd probably have to do to survive. I'd say, try to get out of the house, run into the street and call the police.

I realize you said that I don't have a gun, but I can confirm that I have many guns in many rooms in my house so, in reality, I WOULD have a gun and I would 100% use it. I also have my taser... I'm sure my department would understand the off-duty deployment.

I defend my room by blocking the door with a heavy shelf in fairly strong so moving it won't be hard, if he tries to get in well if it's my personal house the dudes getting a arrow to the chest with a 80 pound bow if its not my place I could break a shelf and use the wood as a weapon

Stay where you are at, Grab something breakable or something that would make a loud noise. Throw it in his direction, not where he can see it, but where it will make a loud noise close to where he is. This buys you enough time to either run out the front door or sneak up behind him an choke him when he goes to investigate it.

Depends on when i notice him, if he is already in my room i will fight him but i will probably die.
But if i notice him as he enters the house then i have enough time to grab a big knife and hide behind a screen for cover and as he goes up the stairs i can easily ambush him and cut his throat.
