What are your thoughts on Jurassic World Dominion?

For those that have seen the movie, what did you think?
I watched it yesterday. I left feeling disappointed. I did not like this movie. I'm a huge fan of the franchise but this film did not satisfy me. I thought the story was awful and pacing slow. Didn't feel like an epic conclusion that it was marketed as. 5/10.

Pacing slow? You twippin twippin, everything happened in about 30 seconds (exaggerated). I give it a 8-9/10. I do like it, but it could have been better.

Things I liked about it: Alan Ellie and Ian, the two new characters were cool, Therizinosaurus scene, Owen x Claire relationship NOT being cringe or awkward, Beta (she reminds me of one of our cats), Malta Chase was awesome, Dodgson punching the air was funny, Scooter Guy’s body didn’t make a crunch sound when the Allosaurus ate him, Camp Cretaceous reference (I think), Prologue reference, girl befriending a Moros Intrepidus (also reminded me of Nala), and the outro showing all of the prehistoric creatures with modern animals. I think that’s all. I do like the whole movie overall, these were just remarkable things to me.

Things I didn’t like: Giganotosaurus did nothing, the part when they circle the main cast around that flipped over truck was basically pointless because he literally just looked at everyone. It’s okay that he acted like a normal animal, but it also isn’t because he was presented as a huge threat despite the only threatening thing he did was steal Rexy's deer. Maisie was too much of a douche at the beginning and it seemed a little forced. The intro was kinda wacky, the animatronics looked VERY wacky (except Dimetrodon and Giga, they looked very good) especially the Dimorphodon in the Malta scene, they looked just as real as the TMNT costumes from the original Live Action remake. The baby Nasutoceratops looked a wee too cartoony, maybe it’s because they were kinda fat. Uhh…… oh yes, everything happened too quickly, at least everything but the forest fire part towards the end. No Oviraptor anywhere at all. Iguanodon was barely visible. Theri teaming up with Rexy, although to me, it didn’t really feel like that end battle was supposed to be taken too seriously so I guess it’s fine. Therizinosaurus’ claws penetrated Giga’s body WAY too easily, they were literally a sculpture of jello. And lastly, the movements of Giga and Rexy, they moved too fast relative to body size, specifically when the fight over the deer.

It definitely would have been saved a little if they kept the prologue at the start

I also saw it again today, and it’s not as bad seeing it more than once, mainly in terms of how quickly everything happened (pretty much the first 2/3, after that the pacing was fine

I have been thinking of watching again. I agree, they should have kept the prologue in. They may be an extended cut of the film

"I left feeling disappointed." Of course you did. It's bad enough that anything other than the original 1993 film exists, but there is no redemption after the unholy disaster that was Fallen Kingdom. I wanted so badly to reach into the movie and smack every single character.

After the first action scene it got very boring for quite awhile.

And bringing back the aging actors from past films, like they did in the Star Wars franchise, can work sometimes and other times not so much.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie once the boring parts were over :)

I would give it a 6 out of 10.

Overall I'm happy with the movie. It was better than the last one. It's good to see the old characters again. I wish it was more about men and dino sharing the same world and less about going back to the park which they keep doing.

I haven’t watched it yet but I heard that dinosaurs don’t have enough screen time in the movie.

I’m still going to watch it though, it takes a lot for me to dislike a movie.

It wasn't WOW, but it was entertaining. I did like the story; corporate greed and all. But it still felt like it could've been more impactful. Dodson got off way too easy with his death. The Giga was done dirty... they wanted to make it the antagonist for Rexy but the Giga was just existing. Not like the Spino that was psychotic and actually was an antagonist. The Theri yelling the deer was funny. And the interactions with Malcolm were on point!

in my opinion, instead of the Theri jumping in the fight, they should've introduced the 2 other rexes for it, like them just recognizing one of their own species being threatened by another carnivore and coming to assert dominance.

I 100% agree. As you see two t rexes at the end of the film, why couldn't they help rexy? That would have been awesome to see, 3 t rexes against one giga. I guess it wouldn't be fair though. And the gigs isn't a giga, I call it the dragon lizard lol It definitely was done dirty

I haven't seen it but since you brought up the marketing: it doesn't look like a Jurassic park/world movie series anymore. It looks like Planet of the Apes with dinosaurs. That in itself isn't a horrible pitch, but if the writers were up to the task, they wouldn't need to piggyback off of an established franchise to make it happen.

The Jurassic reboot trilogy falls into the same trap that the Star Wars sequel trilogy did, namely they tried too hard to replicate the original movie in the first go, tried to pretend they weren't basically ripping off the second movie with their own second movie, and ended up desperately trying to be so different that now it's just not even the same franchise. This is what happens when you've got a greedy industry full of untalented writers.

I remember a time when a sequel to a huge hit was a big deal. I couldn’t wait to go to the movies. Sometimes they missed the mark but it was still an enjoyable experience. Now I’m disappointed 9 times out of 10 so I just wait till the reviews come out.

it was better than the second jw but doesent even touch the jp trillogy also i think they should have killed malcom it wouldve been a good end to his character also without plotarmor of all the mcs they would all be dead after 10 minutes (i also dont get how beta the child of blue is chill with humans but blue that was raised by humans isn't)

It was ridiculous. Dinos everywhere, with citizens as walking meals without guns or security guards everywhere. Mankind so helpless in killing bulldog sized bugs without creating a modified viru..,

My thoughts are that the entire franchise should have died long ago. The first movie was a let down to me and it never recovered.
