What movies DID NOT need a sequel?

Question

What movies  DID NOT  need a sequel? Sometimes, it's better to just leave some things alone. Sometimes, plot points, character arcs, and other in-universe questions are satisfactorily resolved (sometimes, even  masterfully ). But in a time of seemingly endless cash-grabbing franchise expansions, some things just  can't  seem to be left alone. What movies do you think should not have been given sequels? The movies in question MAY themselves be sequels or natural spin-offs. The sequels that were made don't really even have to be bad. I have plenty (and I do plan to write a MyTake about this question), but I'll share three... Independence Day Superman II And of course...

Its not that they didn't need a sequel but its that some of the sequels sucked. Indep Day 2 was baad. Purge Anarchy was the only good purge film and the test sucked. Scary Movie 5 was awful. The first 4 Harry Potter films were fine but the last 4 sucked. Amazing Spiderman 2 sucked. Joe Dirt sequel sucked. The first 3 Bring It On films were okay but everything after sucked. I personally enjoyed all the Jurassic Park/Worlds but Fallen Kingdom was blahh and Dominions first hour was unnecessary. A Cinderella Story did not need those sequels/reboots. Deep Blue Sea and Lake Placid sequels sucked. The Escape Plan sequels were awful. I personally enjoyed Fast 5-8 but i couldnt get into 1/2/4/9. The Ghost Rider sequel was bad. Every Godzilla film after 1998 and every Kong film after 2005 were unnecessary to me. Happy Feet 2 was bad. I wasn't really a fan of the Jumanji reboot/sequels. Almost all the Disney Princess sequels sucked except for Cinderella 3, Lion King 2 and Aladdins sequels. Mission Impossible needs to die already. The Resident Evil sequels were bad but i personally enjoyed Retribution and Extinction was ok. All the Wrong Turn sequels sucked. Zombieland 2 sucked. Cars sequels sucked. Madagascar 3 was bad. Only Terminator film i enjoyed in the whole batch was Genisys lmao. The villain in 2 and 3 were good bt i didn't enjoy the overall film. Out of Star Wars, i personally only enjoyed five (Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Solo, The Last Jedi, Rise of Skywalker) and i didn't like the rest

I disagree with the question overall. I am of the mind all films can and should have sequels that's not to say the sequels are always good many far from it but if you want to create a story that people liked a follow on just makes sense.
Especially world builders star wars would quite literally not make any sense if it was just the first film and made 0 more. And would be such a waste of a cool world, that lead to many independent stories within that world which some are okay, some are very bad, some are great.

If the sequel is bad they should've just made it better or maybe it's just not to one's watching taste. But to say they didn't need one I don't agree with that. Also I really liked superman 2 meanwhile the rest are all terrible to me so things appeal to different people.
Same way rogue one is the best star wars film to me yet that would't of come out if star wars didn't make more. There are plenty of squeals that surpass the original whether one personally disagree's or agree's a perfect example would be Terminator 2 was by far better than the first now someone can easily disagree but many would also agree.

Very, very few films deserve or warrant a sequel and it's my opinion if you need more than one film to tell a story, it would work better as a series. Obviously, prior to streaming services that was much more difficult to pull off.

Personally, I love short films and the more concise a story is, the better the overall quality. The reverse is also true, if you try to stretch 30 minutes of story into an hour and a half film, you're doing the audience a great disservice and leaving them bored, the same logic can be further applied to sequels. Which only exist because of easy marketing, brand recognition and dollars.

So many... From Independence Day, to Toy Story 3, to all of Cars and the Disney Star Wars sequels... The worse was probably everything after Terminator 3 and Salvation, and even those weren't all that good. Terminator Dark Fate was the only movie that legit pissed me off with how disrespectful it was to its legacy. Even The Last Jedi wasn't that disrespectful.

The vast majority of sequels are unnecessary. I would argue that any sequel that’s not at least AS good as its predecessor (s) is unnecessary. Since there are very few of those, we could eliminate hundreds of sequels, maybe thousands. It’s become so commonplace that filmmakers are building franchises into the writing phase. It almost seems rarer to NOT get a sequel now. Ell oh ell!
But i’m not complaining. I luv movies and i’m usually easily entertained. As long as they don’t shit on me, I’ll usually re-up.

I heard that they're making a remake of White Men Can't Jump. Not sure if it's a sequel or what, but I think they should probably leave that movie alone.

Lot of the movies that's come out in the past several years do not need sequels. Star wars is a series of books. I grew up watching the original Superman and reading the comics. Spider-Man is a whole series of comics but the movies today keep remaking the same three over and over. Same with the Batman movies get new actors but the same movies. Some of the marvel heroes are getting out of hand also.
