Same goes for The Mask. That horrible sequel with Jamie Kennedy was horrendous.
Lastly, Joker. I didn't even watch most of the second one. It was that bad.
“Feast” was such a fantastic horror flick!
The first sequel ramped up the camp, and the second pretty much just sh*t the bed.
I wasn’t super fond of “Hellraiser 2”. Once it’s in the ol’ database though, it made some of the other sequels palatable. Ell oh ell!
I have seen every single “Tremors” movie and actually enjoyed them. But they could have stopped after the first one. It’s so good and even the best sequels pale in comparison.
“Saw” didn’t need a sequel. They are all pretty much just gore porn after the second one anyway.
Any comedy, ever. They always just rehash the same jokes. So what’s the point?
The MCU should have shuttered after “Age of Ultron”. That was the best it ever was and every POS since has been nothing more than a money grab and a slap in the face of real fans.
SPEED
MACHETTE
CRANK
BORAT
LES VISITEURS
Didn't know they made a Crank 2
Considering the ending, I don't blame you. It was bad. They don't even show it on TV
The Bad Seed. Mckenna Grace is freakishly talented, we get it, but the second part with highschool set totally destroyed the original franchise. With cool Netflix Taylor Swift songs playing in background, she went from psychopath to a wannabe edgy teenager. Gross.
The eeriness of the first movie was totally moving. In the sequel though, she's every bit of manipulative HBO lame ass character. She could be from Gilmore Girls for all I care.
The original movie had the message that you could be around a psychopathic person,, a psychopathic child and you wouldn't know it, which was delicious in my opinion
The second movie was written by a "avid reader" from Wattpad. I almost died of cringe
Avatar. It's literally just a rip off of Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves but with blue aliens.
Yeah Avatar was trash
That show was dumb af, the sequel was even worse.
I completely agree with you on those movies. Speed had such a perfect standalone story that a sequel felt unnecessary. The Mask was a comedic gem due to Jim Carrey's performance, and the follow-up just couldn't capture that magic. As for Joker, the first film was a masterpiece that left a lasting impact on its own. Some stories are best left as they are without extending them. 🎬

I usually don't watch the movies that already look bad and I hear bad things about them like Joker 2 so I don't remember. The last sequels I watched were Gladiator 2 and MI final reckoning and they were fine. People talked badly about Gladiator 2 but only because the first one was so good. It wasn't a bad movie. Was it necessary? No but I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching the movie it was enjoyable enough :)
I haven't seen either but I have heard bad reviews about Gladiator 2. I will watch both to make my own judgment but you're probably right.
Certainly The Matrix, everything after the first one was trash, Jurassic Park definitely.
I agree with Jurassic Park.
@Dongie What made it better? It didn't even seem close and the others got successively worse from there. Then to top it off the Wachowski brothers trooned out like a couple of degenerate freaks. How the hell that happened I can't imagine, got a message from Satan or something I guess.
Terminator. Terminator 2 was even better though. They should have stopped there. In fact, I treat it as if T3 and everything after never even happened.
I thought T2 was better than T1 too but all the others were crap for sure.
Escape Plan, Toy Story 3, and Independence Day.
Didn't know there was a second Independence Day
You were better off before I told you that then 😬
I don't plan to watch it lol. I still haven't watched all of 1 yet.
I'll save you the trouble. President Whitmore effectively turns into Russell Casse and sacrifices himself, but it is completely pointless and empty and does absolutely nothing to help or save anyone; his new battle speech is just awful. David and Connie are divorced again. Will Smith dies offscreen in a training accident between movies. Jasmine, after making better life choices and becoming a nurse, dies.
The acting is terrible. The production is terrible (it tool nearly 25 years for me to watch the first one and realize "wait, that really IS computer-generated... wow, that held up amazingly). All the happy endings, all the redemption arcs, completely destroyed.
I've just saved you two hours of your life.
How far into the first one are you?
Thanks and not very far. Just pass the part where the spaceship comes to earth.
It's a fun movie. I hope you get to finish it soon.
Yeah hopefully so. I don't get to watch TV very often these days but when I am able to, I'll give it a watch.
Disney Star Wars, and Jurassic movies didn’t need to happen. They are all much worse than their originals
Right they are.
Gladiator. Although I have to give credit where it's due; Gladiator 2 is a solid movie in it's own right.
The biggest problem with Gladiator 2 is that it's trying to follow an absolute masterpiece.
Certainly Devil Wears Prada does not need a sequel. What's she going to do, struggle to get promoted in the fashion world as her 50-year-old assistant? She wants Stanley Tucci to feel her up again?
Jaws, Independence Day, Wizard of Oz, are movies that stand alone as good stories
There are a lot of movies which deserve to be erased from cinematography once for all. Some of them got sequels, what is even a bigger shame.
Highlander. I mean it is right there in the tagline.
I agree, Speed, The Mask, and Joker.
Also, Highlander did not need two more sequels after Highlander 3.
Fast and furious too, the first one was enough.
Jaws, Speed, The Matrix, Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers, Highlander…
I think most that have them don’t need them. I feel like it’s only good when the movie was created with the idea of making a sequel from the start like the LOTR series
Splash, Predator, Jackass, Saw, Jaws, Pacific Rim & Mama Mia!
Mask for certain. I used to watch the Jim Carrey one repeatedly as a small child. That sequel was garbage. Also Space Jam. I loved the Michael Jordan one. The sequel was dumb.
Many movies, but they had the 50th anniversary Last month on Jaws that was a good movie with Robert Shaw good acting but the rest of them they turned into B movies, real cheap, and budgety
Wayne's World. If only because its tagline was 'Just like a sequel, only it doesn't suck'. It sucked balls.
The Fast and Furious movies. Especially after Paul Walker died.
Proud to say I have never seen ONE
@DrPepper12 I saw the first one and the one with the guy who was in NCIS New Orleans.
Black Panther because the first one was so bad.
Yeah the two you said and The Matrix, Avatar, Jurassic Park and tons of others
Teen Wolf!
Teen Wolf Too? Shit!
Yeah not one of Jason Bateman's best movies.
The Book of Eli.
I didn't even know there was a sequel to that movie.
There isn't. But there is a sequel in process now.
all the superhero ones...
Avatar ones can also go away...
Ghostbusters
Grease
Godfather
Smokey and the Bandit
Titanic
I don't think they made a sequel to that movie.
But if they did it would be weird.
I don't think that's a legit sequel
I thought so
Joker fast and furious
Far too many to mention
The Terminator
Die Hard
Alien
